| Nov-16-13 | | achieve: Yes but there is enough play left that needs almost inhuman accuracy; not just yet, but within another 10 moves it will become tense again. Perhaps. It ought to, and Vishy can not like that at this point in the match. |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: <but likely this will be more like a load of sweat for Vishy.> That is for shure :) |
|
| Nov-16-13 | | achieve: There are already a few winning lines emerging for Carlsen, so Vishy is not looking a happy camper, quite anxious in fact, and Carlsen has even regularly thrown up the casual knee above the board. Conclusion:
Must be almost losing from here, if he (MC) gradually increases and detects the moment of technical conversion. |
|
| Nov-16-13 | | achieve: Vishy's passivity both in the opening-middlegame as well as middle-endgame are in fact stupefying; he literally holds back all the qualities that have made him the player all feared. Not just this game. |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: Hope you are right, but I see more drawing lines, but it could be chess as it best : walking in this area were there is a very thin line between win or draw.Meanwhile Vishy has fallen back to trying to comfort his face in almost every legal way.Not a sign of comfort. If Carlsen wins it all I hope we will see the old lion showing his best.
Even a Kings gambit could be an option IMHO,next game... |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: I still believe it was better (for Carlsen) to keep the Queens on.At least a little longer. |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: -Re6 imediatedly..!And next move too!
Looking almost extremely comfortable.
(That is why it is called comforTABLE).
Have we ever heard about comforchair ? |
|
| Nov-16-13 | | achieve: Yep - he's looking cool. Short socks, ankles, knee up... Now can he convert the damn difficult endgame? It seems hard. |
|
| Nov-16-13 | | achieve: \site is down - 0-1?
What a fascinating game. |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: Seems like we are having a R+3pawns versus Queen which should be winning for black ! |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: Queen + 1 pawn |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: And another piece of Magnusmagic.
Carlsen won and Henrik on the norwegian broadcast is feeling almost sorry for Anand !... |
|
| Nov-16-13 | | virginmind: Great stuff again from the Norwegian! We were expecting a roar from the Madras tiger, and instead he is defeated second time in a row! OK, Anand blundered in the end, otherwise it would most probably been a draw, but still...what an excitement! Now with two points lead I don't see Carlsen stumbling on his way to the final victory. |
|
Nov-16-13
 | | moronovich: Hi´<virginmind >!
Thanks for stopping by.
I also find it difficul to see Anand make a comeback.Unfortunately, though I cheer for Magnus. The Magician with all the chessskills in the World. Let us all enjoy the restday tomorrow.
(I actually see Anands position being so desperate that even a Kings Gambit could be an option). |
|
| Nov-16-13 | | achieve: King's Gambit is a fiiiine opening, dear <Moro>, and Anand will have all Sunday to come up with an opening that ensures the possibility for Magnus to make "a mistake", possibly in a very complex middle game; but Anand doesn't seem to have the guile and guts for it anymore, these days. It's been safety first for the Indian for years, and he needs to abandon that attitude, aimed to do that in the months before the start, but a revival of the kind that Kramnik managed is not anywhere on the horizon. His attempt seems to have failed. Do I write off ANAND prematurely? Looking at- and interpreting- the signs, incl. bodylanguage, I don't think I have. Kramnik v Carlsen is the dream match-up next time around. Then Aronian, then Caruana, Karjakin, Giri. By that time Carlsen will have defended his title 4 times, succesfully! Some call it the Carlsen Era, and it might turn out like that. Carlsen is, in this match vs Anand, not even yet firing on all cylinders!! |

|
Nov-17-13
 | | moronovich: Morning <achieve> I am afraid the match is over ): But hope at the same time it is not though I cheer for Magnus. And I also see the Carlsen Kramnik match as a dreamscenario.Better
happen before age catches up with Vlad (too).Theese guys seems to be pitted extremely well together.
Kings gambit sounds just like a typical overromantic patzeradvice but
it may very well be Anands last chance to come back.
See you tomorrow !?...And may you enjoy your sunday. |

You hit the running double? :)>
Yeah, and now it is not running anymore :)But another one starts tomorrow. The odds were simply to good
compared to Carlsens real chances.
A fine post you made yesterday about intelligence, friendliness and "the likes". I hope <brankat> is doing fine and his absence is a good sign. And how do you BTW estimate an idea I have for the bookiegame:For the final, let the qualified start with 20.000 and others with 10.000.!? |
|
| Nov-17-13 | | achieve: <Kramnik> is indeed some 6 years younger than Vishy, and should be fine for a few more cracks at the title! hope to see you tomorrow, mostly just listening to the commentary and the odd look in, we'll see.... i'll have to be at a couple of appointments, but one at home. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <moronovich: And how do you BTW estimate an idea I have for the bookiegame:For the final, let the qualified start with 20.000 and others with 10.000.!?> Interesting idea, but I feel the difference is too small and sheer luck would play too large a part. Having the qualifiers start with c$2,000 and the others with c$1,000 would be better, but I think I prefer the current system :) I actually think that the strongest players would have a better chance of coming through with everyone (including them) starting at c$1,000 than with them starting at c$20,000 and non-qualifiers starting at c$10,000. |

| Nov-18-13 | | achieve: Anand now appears a toothless Tiger, also quite sad to see him almost phlegmatic about the whole thing, "you just try your best, it's one of those days"... and on and on. Please bring on the next cycle, this man really hardly wants it, the spirit seems out of the bottle just about entirely, and Carlsen said almost a year ago the same thing in London: "He just doesn't have that killer instinct anymore" and as he said that, quite emotionally, he clenched his right fist. Anand doesn't clench those anymore, apparently. A game barely over two hours and another 3 fold repetition in 2 hours, followed by some very dejected answers at a flat pressconference... So far - in my personal opinion - a <very> disappointing Match for the Chess Crown. I hope Magnus does a few things as White in the remainder of this, because today he even looked quite bored at a certain point, almost blitzing his moves not looking that interested. |
|
Nov-18-13
 | | moronovich: Hello <achieve > !
Yeah,quite a toothless tiger.
I think I heard (on norwegian television)
that he had consulted a shrink and is now trying to rebuild his selfconfidence. And perhaps playing it safe and trying to strike back with the black pieces tomorrow. On the flat pressconference(agreed) he occured with a better mentally condition than the day before yesterday.IMHO.
So tomorrow is absolutely the last call
IMO.But most likely the train is gone and if the killerinstinct too, then what is left ?...(Carlsen ! would be the answer;). I dont feel that disappointed but I can easily understand when you do. Take care and see you around !
ps.In the scenario we have now it could very well be a noteable disadvantage to play on the hometurf:the fear of looking " like an idiot" when going all in, may prevent him from that !? |
|
| Nov-18-13 | | virginmind: After today's game and press conference, it appears to me that Anand pretty much accepted to himself the idea that he lost the crown. Just look at his face and mimics/gestures: he barely manages to hide his despondency. At times his eyes were simply telling: its time for me to go. And understandably so: he is two points down with 5 games to go, on his own turf. Theoretically there's enough time to make a come back, but realistically, with all the data at hand, I doubt there is anybody who genuinely believes he can make it. |
|
| Nov-19-13 | | virginmind: Here we go again...well, Magnus' remark at the press conference pretty much summed it up today's game vein: I was not in the mood for thinking anyway :) Overall Carlsen appeared rather bemused with Anand's play, given the match situation, as if thinking: Hey Vishy, really now, is that all you've got? If so, than it suits me - why should I press for a win in the remaining games? I think it was pretty much obvious just looking at them: Vishy a quiet/gloomy acceptance of the match outcome, Magnus - a distracted/puzzled/ocasionally joking winner. |
|
Nov-21-13
 | | moronovich: Morning <achive> and <viginind> ! What a figth today -Ra6!? just played.
Today they are really playing for all 3 results.
A very complicated game and though I cheer for Magnus it is good to see there is more tiger than mouse in Anand today :) |
