A couple of days ago I was thinking of you and just about to post in your forum,but then you came first ! :)

Everything is allright thanks,and I am enjoying the spring time which is just on the edge of turning into early summer. Everything is so fresh and though at the age of 61 it is not recieved with the same euphoria as in the younger days - but silent joy shall nor be underestimeated :)

Good to hear you are fine,but seems like you are missing the Iasi Open and I do hope that France will compensate or perhaps even more !?.. And yes,please send me some reports from next years edition.That would be nice.

We'll be heading for Ermont (near Paris) then borrow my brother in law's car for a 9 day trip around Normandy, then back to Ermont for some 10 days and probably check one or two more cities around Paris during that period. Weather broadcast says it's gonna rain next week, but you never know.

Hope you will have a pleasant trip with some fruitfull discoveries.A 9 days trip is a long time.Long enough for get a taste of the real and daily France.And please say hello to my old pal,would you !?

We'll be back in Iasi on June 7, until then we plan to visit Paris a couple of times and maybe also Chantilly.

Some of what i have been up to I wrote at Boomie's forum, and like you I am eagerly anticipating MC-Anand, 2.0 - which i expect to be of much higher quality, as for some reason that match never took off with me, even though I was highly charged for a historic and memorable encounter. It just wasn't there, very bland and frankly disppointing first few games, and both were indeed nervous. 80% was indeed psychological, as <Sokrates> pointed out and worded very well, at another page.

- Regarding Anand's chances:

To me percentages often do not cut it in encounters of this magnitude, even though over 12 games there ought to be some merit in chance calculation or "some" statistical analysis... But honestly Carlsen knows he can not match Anand preparation wise, Carlsen being rather amateurish in that regard, which tells you even more about his raw OTB strength and power of will, but that said that is <it> for Carlsen, and not that much more:

His literal strength and determination, in addition to an unprecedented ability to play all types of positions, relying on his raw talent and feel for the game, backed in his subconscious by a warehouse stored with knowledge that is quite daunting...

BUT - Carlsen must be allowed a chance to tap into those resources, and only extremely shrewd preparation can nullify those strengths for no more than an X number of games, limited number.

Past that Anand in return must trust his baffling talent and effortlessness with which he used to annihilate just about everyone except GK, Karpov, Ivanchuk, not many more.

But time has moved on, almost 45, Vishy, but this upcoming clash for the reasons I think I described fairly, may really give us a super match, and deep down i wish it was over 20 games, Carlsen retaining the title if the score were to be 10-10.
