| Dec-07-15 | | virginmind: Thank you, <moronovich>, and I hope both you and your wife have enjoyed the weekend - and managed to avoid adding too many colories :) As about the games, I just watched the video relay for some 5 minutues at the beginning of round, what can I say, a lot of draws and a win. Does this indicate something about the quality of the games? I don't know, I haven't look at them as yet. Maybe today. Take care. |

Dec-07-15
 | | moronovich: Hi´<Virginmind> !
Well the baking went fine and not too many calories were unhaled, but the temptation is there throuhgout december ;) And let us please have some decisive games today. What about some Sicilians and King Indians,Dutch or whatever except the otherwise interesting Berlin.Thank you. Pawn off in a few minttes.Let us enjoy.
See you around and all the best ! |
|
Dec-10-15
 | | moronovich: Hi <virginmind> !
Hope everything is ok with you !?
Here all is fine,as fine as it can get, and I am looking forward to the second half and off course dont hope it is so drawish or berlinerisch as first leg. See you around and let us enjoy ! |
|
| Dec-10-15 | | virginmind: Hi, yeah, I'm pretty fine, thank you, just bothered a bit that I have to finish some work, as I've said, instead of watching more closely this London tournament. I was also left out of town a bit these days, because my parents in law have some health problems. Carlsen again drawn, agains Giri, hm, well, looks like this is the way it's going to be, havent got time to look at the game, just arrived home from that journey I've mentioned. I'll look at the other games too in a moment. I do hope you are fine and getting well along with your usual life. Ciao! |
|
Dec-10-15
 | | moronovich: Hi again !
And thanks for your visit ! And that your parents in law will get the best possible treatment !?..And that you may not be burdened too much... Strange tournament this year.4 games drawn and one win seem to be what caissa orders. If I had milions and millions it would be interestimg to arrange a tournament with openings that the players didn´t know beforehand but somehow was chosen by a let us say a group of 3 GM´s and confirmed by computers(so no big advantage for either player). At least the players would have time to load the batteries and should not worry about preparation..!? Yes usual life is fine.Just had good talk and got an appointment with a accupuncturist(chinese tradition with needles)who perhaps may help my dizziness ... On this optimistic note I will also say Ciao ! |
|
Dec-10-15
 | | moronovich: When I observe Anand turning and squirming in his chair and restlessly moving his fingers and eyes I would perhaps never guess he would be manyfold WC if I didnt know it beforehand. |
|
| Dec-12-15 | | virginmind: What a round! Carlsen finding all the right moves to win that ending, and Topalov losing for the fourth time! Also Anand with three losses. About time to have our share of the show...:) Yes, interesting idea with players not knowing which opening they will use before the round starts. It will add unpredictability, but the players might also play more cautiosly. Or they will strive to be more prepared in most of the possible openings :) Will today's round repeat the charm of yesterday's? |
|
Dec-12-15
 | | moronovich: Oh yes what a round !
Everything seems all open and almost everyone except the two elderly gentlemen at the bottom, could win the whole thing. And so relieving to witness
games like yesterday, the highlight IMHO being the battle between Mngnus and Nakmura where Carlsen showed some of the best endgamemagic I have ever seen.It was one of those moments were chess is lifted up there were Words vanish... A little french rabbit is surprisingly in the lead and now chased by a pack of wolfes :) About my openingidea : It should be all kind of openings and not only the classic tabyas. Some 200-400,so it would not pay off trying to guess. <Will today's round repeat the charm of yesterday's?> I hope and think so !
And may you enjoy your(omg-again !?!?)weekend ! |
|
Dec-12-15
 | | moronovich: *200-400*, they shall change from tournament to tournament. |
|
| Dec-12-15 | | virginmind: Magic indeed by Magnus. At least 4-5 of the ending knight and/or king moves I wouldn't have guessed in a thousand years. Not only deep calculation, but of course finding the right strategy for converting, and luring your opponent to fall for it.
Magnus back at what he's best for.
Now I'm gonna look over the other two decisive games of the round, haven't got time to replay them. |
|
Dec-13-15
 | | moronovich: Hi <virginmind> !
Sorry, have been busy with Christmas preparations, but now all seems to fit.
Still has romantic flashes from Carlsen-Nakamura...
And today seems rather dull.Much at stake. But Carlsen - Grischuk is heading forwards a caotic spectacle and heuresement not a Berlin ;).. Hope you and you wife are enjoying the weekend and send you the best wishes. Hoka hey !
Siuox/lakota and means : a good day to live and a good day to die.One not without the other in the lakotatradition. In "Dances with Wolwes",the indians are
sioux/lakota. |
|
| Dec-14-15 | | virginmind: Hi <moronovich>, so Magnus wins it all, in the end. Well, a bit of deja vu impression, isn't it? :) Congratulations to him. I don't think I've seen Dancing with the wolves, but I've heard of it. Thanks for letting me know about that meaning. Actually, while in Champaign Illinois, I took a course on Indian Law, back in 1994-95 - but never got to know any Indian words. Preparations for Christmas haven't started in my home as yet, but they are about to, soon. We did have a pleasant weekend, thank you, and I hope you and your wife the same (that includes the preparations you've mentioned) All the best! |
|
Dec-14-15
 | | moronovich: Hi <virgimind> !
Yup,Magnus again and not a bad deja vu :) A rather drawish tournament but a masterpiece like Magnus-Hikaru makes up for it all.And a Grischuk visiting the live commentary is also worth it all as I have learned a lot from analyzing with a lot of GM/IM´s during times.Sometime the best and most joyfull way to learn. Another deja vu is writing all these Christmas Cards today...but a good feeling when it is over and some may be
happy that we confirm our bonds.
And you? What about your Christmas? With your parents in law ? Hope you will enjoy it and that the Wind may blow your way.Soon a New Year wíth all the challenges and gifts ahead... Take care and see you around !
Wifes shrimps are just finished :) |
|
Dec-14-15
 | | moronovich: Oh,annother deja vu : Denmark and Romania will meet in the quater final at the World Cup.Handball ! Wednesday.
I´ll try to cheer for both, but wont promise you anything :)OTH,I am meeting a friend over some pints in the town,so..may be just a few glimpses. Saw "The Immitation Game" tonight.
A movie based on a true story about Alan Turin and how he invented Enigma the machine which broke the nazis codes during WW2.Highly recommended. And why did you take a course on indian law,if I may ask ? Sounds interesting. Ciao ! |
|
| Dec-15-15 | | virginmind: Christmas we will celebrate it in family, as usual, first day within mine, here in Iasi, and second day we'll go in another city to be toghether with my parents in law. Ok, I'll...see whom I'll cheer for on Wednesday ;) I did see The Immitation Game last year and I really liked it. I took that course in Indian Law as a filler to get the required amount of courses for the LL.M training period at the University of Illinois - my field of study was criminal law and procedure, and I added International Human Rights, Jurisprudence and...for some reason, Indian Law. I don'y know, I think I was intrigued of how that may look like, and also to find out a bit about their history. All well to you! |
|
| Dec-17-15 | | virginmind: Ouch! That was tough, dramatic even! Well, what can I say, of course I'm glad we qualified to semifinals (where we'll play another Scandinavian!), but truth be said, it was all too clear that Denmark fully deserved to qualify, too. Such is life sometimes, it's just sport after all :) See you around. |
|
Dec-17-15
 | | moronovich: Hi´<virginmind> !
That was close and i recieved rapports from wify during the whole game,as I was having a couple of pints with a friend. So I am not really qualified to
evaluate. But everyone here seems to agree that it was the best team that made it to the semifinals ! So congrats. And I sincerely hope you will make it all the way, though the norwegians are tough...but not tougher than they can be beaten. Yeah that is life. And that is good.
Take care and see you around ! |
|
A bientot! |
|
Dec-20-15
 | | moronovich: Salut !
Today we are in Qatar and I hope to find time between christmaspreparations.
E.g today wife and I go to town and will hopefully share some good times with friends and foes(And a couple of pints ;).So we shall see,but there will at least be time to lurk.. Pas de neige ici, aussie ;) Je le manque):
All the best to you and your Family and see you around,a bientot ! |
|
| Dec-20-15 | | virginmind: In handbal we ended up with the bronze medal, fair enough, I'd say. And Carlsen offering to the chess world a surprise draw! Well isn't that interesting...hm, bravo to Batsiashvili then! Tomorrow Magnus plays that 11 yo Indian prodigy, Chithambaram - the boy made a draw today with Harikrishna (2743 Elo). Good night! |
|
Dec-21-15
 | | moronovich: Good morning !
Still grey weather, but we hang on ;)
There are fine lights inside our house.
But what about inside Carlsens chesshouse ? Just a draw and with the white pieces to boot to someone rated much lower to whom it must be the highlight of her chesslife. And today Magnus will face the(what I have heard)
biggest talent in India.Without a doubt the game to watch. With MC almost in a must-win situation already.Today there IS the time ;)as yesterday was a succesfull meeting with friends on our irish pub. Bronze was a fine outcome and your swedish coach was touched and moved by the result and that must be a proof that something went very well.So congrats ! Hope you will have a good day and whatever kind of duties or challenges you may face, that the result will be satisfaying. Slanté ! |
|
| Dec-22-15 | | virginmind: Hi, Magnus defeated yesterday the young Indian star (turns out he is in fact 16 yo, I was confusing him with Nodirbek Abdusattorov, who is 11 years old - and who surprisingly drawn with Shankland and Truongson in the first 2 rounds).
Let's see who's gonna give the best show today, or the great surprise? Although from now on the upsets are supposed to slowly disappear, as the ratings will level after round 3. 13 degrees Celsius outside and of course no snow at all here, but sunshine. Odd feeling for Christmas preparations. I was trying to find a tree today but left it for tomorrow, as I wasn't satisfied with what I found. Cheers! |
|
Dec-23-15
 | | moronovich: <I was trying to find a tree today but left it for tomorrow, as I wasn't satisfied with what I found.> Only the best for you ! ;) I have been sellling christmastrees for around 15 years so I have the deepest respect for the customers choice... We have just finished decorating ours
and it shurely adds to the taste of real Christmas.
And also a lot of degrees here.On the short lane it is rather practical, but
deep down I miss the frost and snow. Now it almsot looks like some of the leftover from global warming (: But I enjoy the time at Qatar and there is always a lot to be inspired from when Svidler lifts his box of insight. Hmm,it feels a lot like weekend, but it is only wednesday :) Take care,as well as I hope yours and your wifes christmaspreparations will be satisfying. A bientot !
And please tell me about the tree. |
|
| Dec-23-15 | | virginmind: Ah, so you know very well about Christmas trees :) well finally today I bought one, after several attempts - in some places they were out of them, and in others I didn't like or were too expensive - it's not too big, just a bit higher than me (1.80) and will conveniently occupy its destinated place in the corner of our dining room. Magnus won another one today against Duda, and will be equal first, good recovery. From now on he'll most probably meet the bigger guns. My wife got her winter vacation only today from her job, so we will have more time to concentrate on Christmas "duties" today and tomorrow. See you soon! |
|
Dec-24-15
 | | moronovich: Now almost all preparation is over and left is merely to enjoy the duck, the ricepudding and not to forget all the presents we give to each other.Perhaps a little excursion to the local church and say hello to neighbours.Qatar will then be on hold, this sole exception :) So let me wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas with the hope thateverything will fit for you and that you will have many gifts, opportunities and great
challenges in the New Year !
Bonne Noel et al´hors a bientot ! |
