 | | moronovich: What a plesant couple,Seirawan and Anna.I take it all back,about Anna :) |
|
| Jan-26-17 | | virginmind: Hi! Today Deac (Romanian 15 yo GM) faces Adams with black on board two in Gibraltar. Good luck! In the mean time So wins again at Tata while Carlsen only drew his game and the Philipino is at 2820 at live rating! This is getting serious :) Meanwhile, at the other part of the world, both Federer and Nadal qualified for the semifinals of Australian Open, but they won't play against each other, leaving the possibility that we might have a great final between them. And temperatures dropping again this morning in Iasi at minus ten Celsius. and predicted are minus 25 (!!) elsewhere in the country. Just a remainder that winters get harsh in this corner of the world... I'm fine, mostly. Oh, 5 days without Panadol here. How about you? |
|
Jan-27-17
 | | moronovich: Hi ! and good afternoon ...
So Wes-Wei is the the big final ! Convincing play by the young chinese today. And even Carlsen is having problems with Adhiban..Wijk never let us down :) All is well here and I enjoyed happy hours yesterday with first KJ and in the evening JWH while my wife also was out of town for a seminar, but now is safe back. Weather is cold and sunny and it suits yours truly well and I certainly hope you will find the best way to cope with your tough weather down there!?..And so happy i was to hear about your 5 days without Panodils !! Fingers croseed and keep up the good work, nes´t pas. Nadal-Federer is a kind of dream final, and I hope they will broadcast it in a humane time.(There is a very funny clip on the net with these 2 players doing a advertisement together
and Nadal having problems with his English)
That was all for now and once again:May you have a beautiful weekend ! As well as your wife. På gensyn! |
|
| Jan-28-17 | | virginmind: One week panadol free!
And what an amazing semifinal from Nadal and Dimitrov, they both deserved to qualify! Still, a Federer-Nadal final sounds better :) at my place the games started at 10:30 am, I guess this final will be at the same time tomorrow.Carlsen still not finding his good pace, looks like this Tata will not be his. Havent replayed his game with Adhiban. Indeed, Wei Yi is such a force, I haven't replayed his game game either as yet. And today Deac plays with Topalov in Gibraltar, he's 3/4 points atm. Long live rock'n roll! |
|
Jan-29-17
 | | moronovich: Good morning !
Seeems like Fed - Nadal is going to be a five setter !? Tough game were the momentum is changing all the time. And the last round in Wijk is starting in a few seconds with 4 who could win it all(tiebreaks I think if it is a tie).Could be a hard day behind the screen ; And I am very happy to hear that one week without panodols !! Very good.---And here after a the most delightfull sleep I am ready for it all! Talk to you later and hope you will enjoy this thrilling sunday which also includes the final between France and Norway.. Arrividerci and auf wiedersehen. |
|
| Jan-29-17 | | virginmind: Wow, what topsy turvy results this last round in Wijk aan See! Well, congratulations for a well deswerved win, So! And indeed if Caruana loses today in Gibraltar, So will be second in live ratings. And impressive feat for the Philippino! Well, Federer won the final in Melbourne and congratulations to him too, an 18 Grand Slem win! Norway lost to France in handball, I havent followed the match but I'm sure it was very disputed. I think it's the 6th time France becomes world champion in this sport. Arrividerci! |
|
| Jan-31-17 | | virginmind: 10 days panadol free! This is getting dangerously close to my personal record of 15 days, which happened while in Normandy, back in May 2014. And that one was lasting since some 15 years! Isn't life curious :) Today Deac plays in Gibraltar his third big gun (after Adams and Topalov): Svidler. Good luck, you're gonna need it! So So's second on live rating list since yesterday. Must feel great for the young Philipino and his family&friends. And it is an awesome feat, no matter how you look at it. If he will confirm and maintain at least second-third place in rankings for, say, half an year, it will definitely put him along the greatest in the past 50 years or so. And what a humble person, without a trace of arrogance or misbehaviour! Names like Anand, Lagrave, Aronian and even Caruana also come to mind with this appearance, to speak only of those who passed 2800 ELO. We have such a great pool of excellent players in the past years. Rating inflation? I don't know, could be, but...does it really matter? It's clear that they are all outrageusly good at this game of mind. And we can follow them live each time they play! And you were saying that we're not a bunch of lucky blokes? Come on...:) |
|
Jan-31-17
 | | moronovich: Hi´!
Very good news about being panadol free and may it continue for a very long time ! Here it is quite and it is a good day with an excellent sleep and an old body which is rather cooperative and dont mid the weather is "boring",but I have never tried to be bored,so....no boring weather. And yes it is an awesome performance by Wesley and it looks like we have a clear #2 in the world,or at least could be.This humble and seemingly happy young man. So right now a MC-Wesley match this winter would be my choice if I was Caissa ;) < Rating inflation? I don't know, could be, but...does it really matter?> You make a valid point here and I think you are right:That it doesn´t really matter ! All is well and I will say,so long on a high note :Vive la Normandie ! |
|
| Feb-02-17 | | virginmind: Well, the joy lasted 11 days, as yesterday I took four halves. C'est la vie. But I'm fine. In Gibraltar, after drawing Svidler and Vitiugov, with 6/9 points Deac will play in the last round (four hours earlier) against Ivanchuk. He has a tendency to get in time trouble, yesterday moves 22-40 he kept having one or two minutes left, in very complicated position. Remarcably though, the evaluation remained equal all the time. And what do you think of this David Anton Guijarro guy, amazing isn't it? Beating Topalov yesterday and clear first now. Let's see if he will be able to crack Adams' skills today. Uskoro! |
|
Feb-03-17
 | | moronovich: Well,well - again it is weekend !:)
Feels like 2-3 days ago I wished you a good one.But I still do,especially in the light of your headache came back ):,but still 11 days without medicaments sounds like big progress. So once again I cross my fingers for you !..Birthday tomorrow and wife is ,"strangely enough",busy with the net and the post office ;) 64-one for each square on the board. And all is fine here. The days look like each other, but why change a winning team,nést pas !? Different story with Hou Yifan who made a strange kind of protest.Perhaps not made in the most intelligent way,but hey I have done simular stuff,so I wont blame her.(But please, dont copy her opening play;) Weather is very grey, wet and foggy a good day to be indoor, and I am.Wife soon comming from work and looking forward to see her again.Lovely as ever. Haven´t heard of your countryman Deac, but he must be promissin and will keep an eye on him in the future. And Guijarro also is a guy to follow. He sems to have a very good attitude. That is all for now and I send you all the best wishes and to good health as well. Cheers ! |
|
| Feb-04-17 | | virginmind: Many happy returns of the day! 64 is a very interesting age, when you can start a lot of things. I hope you will enjoy a nice celebration this evening. That 11 day break was from Panadol only, as I continued to swallow other pills I've been taking on a daily basis since some 3 years, for other chronical annoyancies (euthyrox, thyrozol, detralex, cystone). Then of course followed two days with 4 halves of panadol each, meaning that yesterday I felt tired as after dragging big stones all day (not to mention a scintillating scotoma in the evening). Today's better though, which allowed me to even play a few blitzes over the net in the morning, one of which I'm posting here as a birthday present for you :) Wife participated last evening at the big antigovernmental demonstrations that take place in whole country since 4 days - they are the biggest since the revolution of 27 years ago. People ask mainly for a withdrawal of a governmental ordinance which, if applied, (due in a week) would allow a lot of big corrupted politicians to get out of prison and also other stuff which would make fighting corruption less effective. I stayed home as still recovering. Yup, Deac could well be our future best chess player, hopefully he will quickly find sponsors and an adequate trainer to help improve. Have an excellent weekend&celebration!

 | | moronovich: Good evening !
Grey and a little bit rainy and wife has caught a minor cold,so we didn´t go to the seaside as hoped and planned. But all is fine,in a way and I am preparing smoked salmon with sliced tomatoes and vegetables to enter the oven in one hours time.Hope you like the smell of it. <euthyrox, thyrozol, detralex, cystone).> Not shure, but these are medicaments, right !? And thanks a lot for the birthday
wishes ! And your present from the net, too;),which I´ll come back to later on.And glad you at least had energy enough to play online.
Tournament chess is the toughest sport I have tried. Not the least compared with football, basket, volleyball(yeah everything with the body involved)which I did on selected teams. But off course chess can be very rewarding, otherwise it would probably be foolish to play it.At least for me. I saw 11 degrees Bukarest today.Does that cover your town too ?
Glad to hear the protests were heard. If rightly understood... Now the potatoes are waiting and another hopefully nice evening here in the outskirts of Aarhus.Hopefulle the same at your place,so hereby all my best wishes ! See you up the road. |
|
| Feb-07-17 | | virginmind: Good morning,
good luck to your wife with the cold she caught - quick recovery.
Smoked salmon smelled really fine, only that I don't eat it smoked, but I don't know how it's called in English (ressembling to how you prepare pickles) - in Romanian it's 'marinat'. Surely tastes better if smoked, but for some medical reasons I avoid smoked food. Cold returning here, with some snow and minus 14 forecast for the day after tomorrow. I wonder where can I complain about the weather conditions? Yup, those are medicaments, which I'm bound to take for an indefinite time, fortunately for now no side effects that I'm aware of. Yes, the protests were heard and the prime minister acted accordingly, only that now people demand his resignation. Yesterday night though there were fewer on the streets, with even some counter demontrations (smaller) of those who sustain the government. We will see about that. The blitz game was of course marred by a mistake of mine in the opening, and I should have lost, only that he didn't profit of his advantage. But I managed to turn the tables and win (also, I missed a bigger chance to finish him quickly at some point). Best wishes to you both and take care! |

Feb-07-17
 | | moronovich: I really enjoyed your game which I have just been through.A lot of action, not to mention the way you make your knights cooperate together with the final execution(s).Not easy to play with the bish on c8 and the wp on d6.And your opponent didn´t play bad.So...kudos !(Hotte has aufgegeben;) And talking about the sun:BBQ salmon tonight ;),and yes I know what you mean
when you say ´marinate`.But seemingly, like you,I prefer salmon in the more simple way:like in the oven or on a campfire !.. So for now I´ll do the dining, und wünschen alles die beste fúr dich und deiner frau (1.62 und schwartzes haahr-ich kan durch pc gucken!). Viel spass und moro ! |
|
| Feb-08-17 | | virginmind: Hi and thank you very much for the appreciation regarding my game. I hope the salmon tasted great and you two had fun while BBQing. Haha, so you've got abilities to peek through the PC, cool! Cold reinstated here as I told you and a layer of snow already everywhere. Health is good so far and I hope yours too. How is your wife recovering from the cold? Or it's cured already? Bye! |
|
Feb-08-17
 | | moronovich: <virginmind: Hi and thank you very much for the appreciation regarding my game.> My pleasure too.You are always welcome. And the salmon tasted fine, though I prefer it the more natural way.But in the case of Trump,I wish someone would put him in marinate for a couple of years :),):): Snow is falling and it is a beautifull pittoresgue vue outside,if it wasn´t because wife has fallen again and is waiting for an x-ray at the hospital...perhaps only a twisted shoulder, but perhaps broken ):):.You will hear more news later. And btw there is IMO a very interesting position at FSR´s forum if you like to join the analysis(But beware:they may be time consuming). <Health is good so far and I hope yours too. How is your wife recovering from the cold? Or it's cured already?> Good to hear.Good health is worth more than, let us say 100 million ratingpoints. And besides from todays event, mine is fine too and my wifes cold is almost over now. That was it.Waiting time.
And looking forward to talk with you again.
Ciao! |
|
| Feb-09-17 | | virginmind: Oops, sorry to hear about the problem of your wife. Let's hope the shoulder is not broken and that she will recover soon. Unfortunatelly such fallings due to slippery happen during winter time. Very cold and thick layer of snow this morning here, due to a snow storm last night. Harsh winter part two :)I will go now to FSRs forum to see what is all about. Have an excellent Thursday! |
|
Feb-09-17
 | | moronovich: Thanks <virginmind> ! But the prospects are OK today."Only",probably a fracture in the
upper left arm, which is fixed, close to the body, where it should stay for a week...But she is in relatively good spirits and we try to pretent it is a little extra holliday. She ha already recieved a lot of ecouraging stuff from her working place were I think she is very popular. And soo she will be able to do some work from here,on the laptop.Litterally a LAPtop ;) Hope you cope with the snow and interesting if you like to join the analysis !? It is tough postion. And so far:nobody knows if it is winning or not... And an exellent thursday to you as well! |
|
| Feb-10-17 | | virginmind: OK good luck and a quick recovery, of course good spirits will help and your kind presence during this 'holiday'.And it's very good to find her colleagues support in such moments. I havent study that position as yet as got some other stuff to do, but will probably come to it later. Minus 20 this morning in Iasi, I didn't expect it to go that low, probably because no clouds in the sky now, after the huge snowing the other night. Started to read another Murakami novel - "Sputnik Sweetheart", and it looks good, but so far didn't manage to waive the mixed emotions coming from "A Wind-up Bird Chronicles" disapointment...not to mention quit reading "1Q84" after finishing the first volume. But somehow I felt like giving him another chance, and it helps that this novel is (much) shorter than the others :) Au revoir. |
|
Feb-11-17
 | | moronovich: Thank you for kind words !
And not too late to wish you a fine weekend. With or without snowy weather. Wife has some pain in her shoulder/upper arm and the house is quiet, though with warmht and friendship.
This may take a while, but let us see.
Weather was sunny and still some snow left, making a poetic frame to the hills and trees... See you soon-take care.
Cheers ! |
|
| Feb-14-17 | | virginmind: Happy St. Valentine! How is your wife's doing? Has the pain in the shoulder receded? Dropped reading Murakami yet again. Some blitzes played, no big deal. Weather with a very slight improvement. And street protests in the country continued, with fewer people taking part though. Are you following the championship in Tehran? What do you think of today's 9.g4 of Ju Wenjun's opponent? All the best! |
|
Feb-15-17
 | | moronovich: A relief todays as wifes not gonna be operated and the upper arm is making, slowly, but steady progress.Anywway we will have to spend some time here together, but she can now do some work from home so all in all, it seems to head the right direction.Tomorrow I´ll leave here for some hours to see an old colleque and friend i havent seen for more than one year.Really looking forward to it !! (both to see her and going out;). So yes,the womans have been followed, and this 9.g4 was quite a howler ...She must have overlooked -Nxf1 is with check, but still...Do you follow it too ? Sorry, can not comment on books.Haven´t read one for a long time...but remember the pleasure of doing it.Being absorbed into another dimension. So now seadfood and (spanish)chips. The owen is working...There after CHL with 2 great matches comming up. See you soo and all the best !
HOKA HEY.
And belated Happy Valentines to Iasi too :) |
|
| Feb-18-17 | | virginmind: I'm glad to hear the news are good regarding your wife's arm&shoulder. Sharjah Swiss starting today and it should be entertaining, only that Agon again takes exclusivity in live video relay for, of course, a fee... Getting warmer here and I think I can safely say good bye winter. Have an excellent weekend ahead! |
