 | | moronovich: I see, I see .
So if we were whiskeybottles(with content) our marketvalue would be rather high ;). The abovementioned Gemzøe made (rapidplay)once a funny move.In a very difficult situation he had to move his rook.Let it hoovering in the air for about a minute ,like the rook had its own life.Which it almost had,as it landed on the same square without the rooks posessor nor the opponent noticing ! (One of the best move in the position as far as I could see ;) He lost the game and was for decades known as a distrait man. |
|
| Oct-23-11 | | brankat: The chess lore is indeed very rich, as rich, if not even more so, as any other form of our human pursuits. Which only makes sense, come to think of it. We have a beautiful game, an exceptional form of Art, Science and Sport. Incredibly complex in its potential. And, of course, thousands of people/players/fans involved. People of unique personalities and characters, passions, human virtues and flaws. |
|
| Oct-25-11 | | brankat: Out of curiosity. I hope You won't mind. Are You still active as a player? Thanks. |
|
Oct-25-11
 | | moronovich: Morning <brankat> thanks for stopping by ! No,I am not active.I prefer coaching and couching ;).I am glad you asked.Feel free any time. It must be really early at your place,no !? (I just love when the spanish people adds no after a fullborned sentence). One of these days I will look Vancouver up. |

My picture could be : a mirror where we can project perhaps everything into it. |

| Nov-10-11 | | brankat: <moronovich> Some food for thought :-) "Chess is a form of intellectual productiveness, therein lies its peculiar charm. Intellectual productiveness is one of the greatest joys - if not the greatest one - of human existence. It is not everyone who can write a play, or build a bridge, or even make a good joke. But in chess everyone can, everyone must be intellectually productive, and so can share in this select delight. I have always had a slight feeling of pity for the man who has no knowledge of chess, just as I would pity the man who has remained ignorant of love. Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make men happy." – Siegbert Tarrasch
"Chess is a terrible game. If you have no center, your opponent has a freer position. If you do have a center, then you really have something to worry about!" – Siegbert Tarrasch :-) |

 | | moronovich: <I have always had a slight feeling of pity for the man who has no knowledge of chess> I have met many people who seems to be happy without having any need for chess. And also some who IMO could need to experience something ells. And he forgets(or doesn´t know) about the feelings the chessplayer has during the game(afterwards and before would also count for a chessgame in my book) Otherwise I find his words covering and should be seen in the líght of
the time were he lived.
But dear <brankat> it was actually a kind of inspiration to me as I found out I had a dream about one day perhaps coaching inmates in a jail ! So thank you! |
|
| Nov-11-11 | | Pyke: <Moronovich> Have a nice weekend as well! |

And congratulations to the players and your country! |

| Nov-11-11 | | brankat: In case You've not heard this one before :-)
"The chess player who has lost his game - who will describe him? I have seen him unable to move. The public was long gone, the lights were out, and still he sat rigidly in his chair staring at the emptied board, because he had overlooked Bg2. A case of complete petrification, with bystanders whispering and tiptoeing by. I have heard him begging for punishment in blasphemous language. He had forgotten Nh5, and in his dismay he called down annihilation upon himself. Derisively, he rejected our words of solace, demanding insults and chastisements. Standing afar and horror-stricken, I have witnessed him swearing in orgiastic fury to rip off his genitals, because he had played Qf6 instead of Qb6." <Jan Hein Donner> |

| Nov-13-11 | | brankat: "I had a toothache during the first game. In the second game I had a headache. In the third game it was an attack of rheumatism. In the fourth game, I wasn't feeling well. And in the fifth game? Well, must one have to win every game?" – Saviely Tartakower |

Lol!
And thanks for posting some extracts from these guys discoverys on the chessscenes.Especiallly about loosing
which often is a cruel discipline.
Sometimes it becomes real pathetic when the loser can not understand that he lost because his opponent played better or less foolish than himself....
After my worst losses I could feel so lonely. But from my 58thyearie perspective I may say :if one doesnt get bigger problems than this it must be a happy life :)
After one crucial loss a very important game about several (real)buck§§,I simply swept all the pieces away.Which might be the closest I came to true Fischerstyle ;) Donner I met in the start 80ies and he occured grumpy, but in a lighthearted way.And "the King" is a must read if one loves chess IMO.
Particulary I remember how he tried to convince the reader about womens "skills" in chess. Thanks again for stopping by.And btw : does your pigeon have a name !? |
|
| Nov-13-11 | | brankat: Re: the pigeon. I call him simply J.R., short for Jose Raul :-) |

| Dec-05-11 | | Magnusch: Good Day Denmark!
Well, about that word <coach>.. I couldn't understand what it means.. So when I woke up this morning I went to my dictionary!! And I was a bit surprised when I found that it could mean <trainer>. I was happy to learn something new. But then - maybe half an hour later - then I really woke up and.. WOW! OF COURSE IT MEANS TRAINER! A coach = a trainer !!
<OF COURSE!> How could I forget that yesterday? I have always knewn that! One reason of my bad memory yesterday could be that long chess game. It was in some way a bit painful to see that Luke McShane couldn't find a way to win! And I was more and more tired (and no coffe for me). Another reason could be <aging>.. The brain is aging too. Memory isn't getting better in the long run. :( See you around the chessboards today, moronovich!
Danish Coach = Peter Heine Larsen (if memory serves me correct this time!) ;) |
|
| Dec-05-11 | | Magnusch: I feel my english have been a bit worse than it was before. Obviously I have to be more activ as a kibitzer on chessgames.com. Yes obviously one have to practise more, to avoid being "rusty". C u later 2day! |
