 | | moronovich: <Magnusch> thanks for stopping by ! & nice to hear from you again:) I like your english and understand more or less everything. I am 58 and aging plays a part, aka memory(is that the word? ;),but it comforts me a lot to realize that the same goes for relatives and friends, meaning it is somehow related to nature in work. Many simple precausions can be made IMO.Such as e.g. keeping a little notebook about the simple and necessary things to do today/tomorrow,plus keeoing the notebook in a stable place ;)This works fine for yours truly.. One thing I try to avoid is company with elderly (58+;)people of the type who can and will spend several minuttes trying again and again to remember e.g. names and/or years.Just to let it go and moving on and perhaps proceeding to more interesting areas is my direction.
Actually I dont care what year Rudolf Valentino was born nor the lenght of the Golden Gate and so forth. At least roughly spoken. So the word coach/trainer did tricker something which made a connection ! I have met Peter several times and we have also made a few analysis together. He is a nice fellow IMO and an immense power on team Anand. And yes,see you around,I sincerely hope you are dong fine ! |

| Dec-05-11 | | Magnusch: Hello moronovich!
Well.. compared to you I'm nearly a teenager! ;-).
I'll return later! Now Carlsen. |
|
| Dec-05-11 | | Magnusch: <moronovich> Now I'm back here again. Carlsen crushed Nakamura in an impressive style (well.. guess Naka wasn't too happy about his own play). <precausions> I didn't know that word but I could guess it and know it's in my memory. Tomorrow it will be lost, I'm afraid. But that's life! I agree about remember names (and years). I'm 49 but I have always had a bad memory for names. I suspect it will be worse in time to come. <Good memory for places> I have a very good memory for where I have put things. And also for where special things are written in a book. I could say to one close friend (when discussing mathematics) such as "that definition is on the top of a left page". He is often a bit suprised when checking with the book and see it is written where I said it was. It feels good to have that memory. I also remember well where people were placed for example in a room or a bus or whatever. Also when I go shopping I always remember where things are placed, even if I haven't been in that shop for a long time (and maybe only one time in total). Of course, sometimes they are moving around things.. Then I'm lost of course. I call this memory (when speaking to my friend) for a <chess memory>. Position memory would be more precis, I guess. When it comes to chess, my memory is of course not perfect. Compared to many elite players my chess memory is probably clearly worse. I have always felt that it should be easy to learn a lot opening theory - but I will never do that because that would be not only boring (to learn exact lines and so) but also "not 100 % fair play", meaning I don't want to win a game because I was more prepaired in the opening. I want to think from move one. Well.. if I was among the chess elite in my country, I would surely think different about this! Then I had to memorize openings (but even more the ideas behind) for obvious reasons. <About making notes on paper> Well that's a good idea and I use it too. But I am often too lazy, so I make many notes on paper (about things to do) but I am too lazy to do the thing (the note was for). That's human too, but I have constant a bad consious about that. Jag tar och skriver om det sista på svenska (I suspect the english was too bad). "Jag har konstant (alltid) dåligt samvete (för att jag inte gör allt jag antecknat (noterat) att jag ska göra). Det blev en lång post detta! Sorry!
Anyway, it's pretty good with me. I hope you it is with you too! |

 | | moronovich: Nice win by Magnus and interesting thoughts from you <Magnusch>. I am early off for tonight , but will come back tomorrow then.Take care meanwhile! |
|
| Dec-05-11 | | hms123: <moronovich> You probably noticed, but I did post on the chessbookie's page in between your two posts. It was a humorous (if perhaps not successful) attempt to show that a mistake had been made. |

Yes and I also took it an that spirit, but my main objective was to point out the gross error by he bookie(s).And the implications that you cann´t run such a game if the players can not trust that they/we got paid back what we have earned.Plus the extra bucks that goes into circulation is unfair competition.A question of CG´s trustworthyness is also on the line here IMO.I dont want to put a lot of time and energy into this, reaching a welldeseved win and then :" Sorry pal,we dont know how to push the right buttons, but just be happy that we give the bucks to someone else.It is nothing personel." which IMO is their policy if they dont correct the mistake.Next time it could be you or somebody ells. |

Dec-06-11
 | | moronovich: <hms 123> So it was aquestion of justice and he and a vital part of the life here on CG. And to be clear I did appreciate your way of teling it to CG. All the best:) |
|
| Dec-06-11 | | hms123: <moronovich> Thanks. I always worry that the subtlety of my <humor> might get lost on those for whom English is not a first language (no matter how good their English is). |
|
Dec-06-11
 | | moronovich: <hms 123>I like your humour.Gentle and
subtle.
As there should be more of in life(in a semiperfect world;).I have today e-mailed CG trying to explain the obvious about the wrong payout. And though my mainperspective may be my own interest I also severely mean it regarding everybody ells like you e.g.,that when the winner declares he/she shall be able to enjoy with good consciousness.
And the process before the leg is solved as well.
"Technically" too : how any bucks do one has for the play?
And/or : I may be a happy winner tomorrow,hurrah!---but will they pay??
So forth. |
|
| Dec-06-11 | | brankat: <moronovich> Congratulations for taking the lead in the Bookie game, again! As for the Bookie's blunder:
"Those who commit a mistake and do not correct it, are committing yet another mistake." |
|
| Dec-06-11 | | brankat: <Magnusch> Regarding the memory matters: What You have, I think, is referred to as "Photographic Memory". I have it, too. On top of the regular one. And it is usually very useful. |

 | | moronovich: <brankat> thanks mate!
Being #1 = nice view, but at the same time a kind of fragile position IMO. And good to see the bookie fixed the mistake.
Not making another one is the trademark of experience. Say hello to Raul from me and see you up the road.
After all life is fine-and now we only need mankind to realize this ;) ): Right now many sparrows an the like in my garden. They really love the sunflowerweeds.Dont hope they grow so fat that they cann´t escape the cat! OTOH the cat is hungry too...

Dec-07-11
 | | moronovich: <wordfunph> Also thanks to you and off course we will have some good wine ! I am still looking forward to rub shoulders at the final :) In my country we have a little game at christmas called "fillipines" : if somebody find 2 nuts in one shell(sorry no pun intended;)he/she shall receive a small gift/packet from the other person. |

 | | moronovich: <Magnusch> Hello igen ! Seems like <brankat> is right in the sense that parts of your memory works photographich which is a very useful tool. I am in no doubt that it, to a certain degree ,is also what makes another Magnus such an outstanding player.(Besides numerous other qualities, off course). So to you and <brankat> and <wordfunph> I will wish you a fine and warn christmas time ! |

 | | Penguincw: < moronovich: <Chess Bookie> !
Couldn´t we please have the pick-three back again !? . > I'm assuming you wanted that to pat your lead. Well, it's going to be London Classic: Rd 6: Daily Double for this round. BTW: Good luck winning the leg. |
|
Dec-09-11
 | | moronovich: <BTW: Good luck winning the leg> Thank you <Penguincw> ! and the same to you:) Regarding me advocating the pick-three
it is also based on that it is the best way for people below the leaderboard to make a comeback..
So in the name of fairness we should have the pick-3 back again.IMO. |

If it were 4 games that had to be chosen, I would just ignore that. But again, choosing an unlikely outcome and have it win could be the turning point in the tournament. |
