Behold the fiery disk of Ra!

Started with tournaments right after the first Fischer-Spassky set-to, but have long since given up active play in favour of poker.

In my chess playing days, one of the most memorable moments was playing fourth board on the team that won the National High School championship at Cleveland, 1977. Another which stands out was having the pleasure of playing a series of rapid games with Mikhail Tal on his first visit to the USA in 1988. Even after facing a number of titled players, including Teimour Radjabov when he first became a GM (he still gave me a beating), these are things which I'll not forget.

Fischer at his zenith was the greatest of all champions for me, but has never been one of my favourite players. In that number may be included Emanuel Lasker, Bronstein, Korchnoi, Larsen, Speelman, Romanishin, Nakamura and Carlsen, all of whom have displayed outstanding fighting qualities.

Besides sitting across the board from Tal, I have a Lasker number of three and twos for world champions from Capablanca through Carlsen.

chancho: Historian Professor Allan Lichtman predicts that Biden will win and his predictions have been proven right since the presidential elections in 1984, but who knows...

Crazy times nowadays...

chancho: If the bungling and deliberate lying by Trump of this pandemic (that has cost 226,944 American lives and counting) were happening under the leadership of a Democratic president... is there any doubt <whatsoever> that the Republicans would be screaming for his head??

Hypocrisy in politics is part and parcel of the game, sure, but at some point, it's a simple matter of right vs wrong.

Trump's lying and misplaying of Covid, made it possible for the victims to underestimate the dangers of the virus and it lead to fatal repercussions.

No party is clean, but amorality rather than any true sense of morality carries the day for too many, whose definition of an honest politician is: <once bought, stays bought>.

Oct-22-20  technical draw: Latest from oddsmakers: Biden at 66% and Trump at 33% to win the elections.

chancho: Haha... Trump is an idiot. What, does he believe troops were running through minefields and machinegun fire to get to a polling station?

https://www.history.com/news/vote-b...

Oct-22-20  technical draw: The bettors are going wild. Biden just might be dead meat.
Oct-22-20  technical draw: You see, somebody can say, "Biden is going to win!" But then somebody else says, "Put your money where your mouth is." And that is the true poll. How much are you willing to wager? Do you get the "Olympic Chill" when you make a bet? I don't pay too much attention to polls since they don't have skin in the game. Follow the money, that's the real poll.
Oct-23-20  technical draw: Allow me to retort. What does Joe Biden Look like? Way a minute that's from a movie. Let me tell you about polls. All the polls that are taken will give the probability of winning the popular vote. Now we know that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the election.

Unless a pollster does a state-by-state polling and can come up with a reasonable Electoral College estimate then looking at polls is a waste of time. Can anyone link to an electoral college poll?

perfidious: <'So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous - whether it's ultraviolet or just a very powerful light - and I think you said that hasn't been checked because of the testing. And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or some other way, and I think you said you're going to test that, too.

I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.'>
