Hello all,
I joined CG as an administrator, editor & front-end developer. I will start helping CG with administrative/editor tasks such as making sure tournaments and their bio's are complete and up-to-date, reading forums to help list and prioritize tasks at hand.

Check It Out: Hi <petemcd85>, could you please advise me where I could look for commercial awnings? Much appreciated if so!

petemcd85: Hello <Check It Out>. I'm no longer doing awnings. I would suggest googling awning companies near you.
Aug-05-22  stone free or die: Surely you might suggest a guideline or two for selecting...

(I think <CIO> was asking in earnest, his snark factor is fairly low methinks)

Aug-05-22
Premium Chessgames Member
petemcd85: Hello <stone free>, the guidelines are listed below:
1. No obscene, racist, sexist, or profane language.
2. No spamming, advertising, duplicate, or gibberish posts.
3. No vitriolic or systematic personal attacks against other members.
4. Nothing in violation of United States law.
5. No cyberstalking or malicious posting of negative or private information (doxing/doxxing) of members.
6. No trolling.
7. The use of "sock puppet" accounts to circumvent disciplinary action taken by moderators, create a false impression of consensus or support, or stage conversations, is prohibited.

Please read #7 carefully

Aug-05-22  ZoboBear 000000001: I think <stone free> was talking about <commerial awnings> and not kibitzing guidelines.

The parenthetical about <CIO>=<Check It Out>'s original question would suggest as much.

stevemcd87: <Z>, your sock puppets have been getting out of hand. All of your sock puppets will be getting deleted soon and we will make sure you can't create anymore.
Please control yourself, we are making plans in permanently banning the bad apples of CG.
Aug-05-22  ZoboBear 000000001: If you think I'm a bad apple then you haven't really been paying attention.

But sure, you will have to deal with such cases as mine anyways.

(Consider <George Wallace> vs. <Big Pawn> - at least I don't play the audience as fools)

Aug-05-22  nok: Please note <Z's> aliases are not sock puppets, as they're explicit -- he doesn't hide behind them.

Aug-05-22  nok: This however, is a sock puppet.

stevemcd87: <Z> I didn't call you a bad apple. I found some of your comments helpful in the past but the sock puppets need to stop.
<nok> It's against guideline #7. We give him probation and he just hops on another user.
This also makes other users that want to ignore him to need to put the other 70 users on ignore also.
<This however, is a sock puppet.>
We are aware GW is a sock puppet also.

Dealing with sock puppets is our top priority for next week.

  stevemcd87: User: Z MANGEYENA

This workaround will not work for much longer

Aug-05-22  Z MANGEYENA: Can't you tell the difference between racists socks and a few aliases meant for fun? If you want to spend gobs and gobs and gobs of your time playing whack-a-mole over the next year or two, or three, then no one can stop you. You can either delete racist accounts or you can waste your time deleting harmless aliases.
Aug-05-22  ZoboBear 000000001: https://youtu.be/wkj9h76Rb_Q?t=46

The aliases started due to the throttling algorithm getting gamed by sock armies (likely <bippy>'s).

For the record, I never got banned, even once, before <Daniel> died. I might of had a handful of posts deleted, sure, but only a handful.

Of course, times have changed.

Anyways, I do object to the rollout you fellows did - no announcement of the changes (even if the original bans were just 4 hours). That's lacking due process.

But I'm supposed to be banned now for what 72 hours? OK, I've had my say, and will serve my 3-day sentence. I'm interested to see how even-handed the dealings will be - and it might just be best for me to not be posting during the transition.

.

Aug-05-22  Z MANGEYENA: No, I take that back. I got banned one time - once - when Daniel was alive, but it was only for a day. My point still stands, there was no due process.
Aug-05-22  ZoboBear 000000001: ust a minute here - <Z MANGEYENA> - you ain't part of the real Z deal.

But if Z'm mistaken about being Z-banned, please post a link to back up such a claim.

(Caveat Zemptor!)

OK.... EOT

Aug-05-22  Z MANGEYENA: <ZoboBear 000000001: Just a minute here - <Z MANGEYENA> - you ain't part of the real Z deal. (Caveat Zemptor!)

OK.... EOT>

Nice try, <fred>, I bet you even fooled a few people, but in the end, you were found out.

After all, Z Truth cannot be imitated.

Aug-05-22  Rdb: Admins listened to <fredthebear> and <Messiah> and have decided to make rogoffland pollution free .

Look at <big pawn>/<George Wallace> now (who is 'buddy' of <fredthebear>) . Like I have said repeatedly - there are only 3 persons who do not want guidelines to be enforced on rogoffland viz <big pawn>/<George Wallace> and his buddies <diceman> , <Keyser soze>

They want to use rogoffland as their personal toilet . And much worse.

I suffered racist attacks by these three people for years and when <cg.com> allowed retaliation for racist attacks finally , i shut them up in no time by doing <Samuel Jackson> to them .

If others also do <samual Jackson> to these three people , they will be fixed in no time .

Either that or cg.com has to discipline them . That is the only way to fix these three people .

And if you fix these three people , all will be good on rogoffland.

Susan agreed that 72hrs was a bit lengthy for "degrading CG's staff" and asked me to remove the probation.
In the future, degrading CG's staff or any of it's editors will be strictly enforced, the probation time will increase exponentially for every repeated violation.
Aug-05-22  nok: Not all these are <Z>

Check It Out: Hi Pete, thanks, I've done the Google thing.
Aug-06-22  stone free or die: <Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury socks, not to praise them.>

Like I've said many times, I do aliases - not sock puppets.

There isn't any dirty trickery involved in using an alias - especially when the voice is as clearly identifiable as it is in the Z constellation.

Socks, however, are an entirely different matter - they can be used for various nefarious ends -

• To echoplex ("yes, brilliant elite posting").
• To carry on false, or staged, dialogues.
• To spread disinformation, or to attempt to discredit (e.g. <Z MANGEYENA>.
• To avoid suspensions.

Please note, aliases don't do any of these, save for the last.

(I will admit to doing so myself, on very limited occasions, for a very limited number of posts. I might elaborate in another post - but my main purpose in this post is to attempt to distinguish socks from aliases - and to name a couple of users who also have multiple accounts.)

Since I've been singled out, I think I"m entitled to call out other users with multiple accounts - it's only fair after all.

First and foremost - there is the <Big Pawn> constellation. As far as I know he has never admitted to any connection between these accounts - although he has on occasion tied his own shoelaces together by losing track of which account he's pretending to be...

<big pawn
george wallace
(*) in the woodpile
cassandro
the kingfish
mrs butterworth
aunt jemima>

https://webcache.googleusercontent....

(I've probably missed a half a dozen!)

Those who pay attention well know the ends these accounts are used for - honesty and integrity don' come to mind.

Another interesting case is <MissScarlett>, who is admittedly a sock of a different thread.

<MissScarlett
Redshield
IndigoViolet
Feldgrau
Black Front
JohnDahl
AlanPardew
AlphaMale
Pepperpot
ControlledDemolition
BobCrisp
JaneEyre
MichAdams
WMD>

Paul Keres (kibitz #913)

It's not exactly clear to me what <Missy> was up to with all these accounts - perhaps most of their usage pre-dated my arrival on <CG>. But I don't believe there has been a affirmation that they were alias accounts - which puts them more into the sock category.

.

Aug-06-22  Rdb: Credit to admins.

Finally some sanity/civility/order in rogoffland. I hope it lasts
