WannaBe: Amazon pays 13.5 Billion for Whole Food Market. In the process, wipes out 29 Billion dollars. <BILLION>!!

WannaBe: Another incredible number to 'consider'. AMZN went up $23.74 today, total number of shares outstanding is 478 Million.

So, the shares outstanding (public traded) gained a value of $11.347 <BILLION>.

If you want to count the shares held privately by Amazon (not traded or float), the market valuation (paper money gain) of AMZN have already paid for Whole Food Market (WFM) purchase.

WannaBe: Right now, July 8th Saturday looks to be a good day for a "Double-Header".

Go to the Museum in the morning, followed by a 6PM ball game at AT&T, MIA/SFG.

It's about a mile walk from the CalTrain Station to the museum, and then back to the ballpark.

Wheeeeee!!

keypusher: <WannaBe> As long as I'm here...Thiel isn't the only guy saying this. It's not that index funds are a bad idea...in the abstract they're a very good idea, and in the real world they've been great since the moment they were introduced.

But the problem, as I understand it, is that there is so much money in index funds that they are beginning to distort the market, and when the crash comes a lot of people are going to panic.
