May-19-17  technical draw: You know my cousin the art expert? Well he's between jobs and now works as a virtual patient. That's right, he is placed in a hospital and given certain symptoms to give to medical students, Then he evaluates their bedside manners and diagnosis.

He says most of the medical students he sees are Indian or Pakistani. Now that's a good job, being in bed all day and complaining of fictitious ailments. Beats tending bar.

<WannaBe> . I want to input my opinion on net neutrality but no matter how much I read about it I can't decide if I'm for or against it.

You're my go to man on things technical. So what is it yes NN or no NN?>>

That is SO MUCH PRESSURE!!

I am in favor of net neutrality.

I cannot say any more than that, sir. Otherwise, I will be stuck on here arguing with the crazies for 38 months.

May-19-17  technical draw: I think I'll go pro net neutrality. Thanks tga.

WannaBe: So, it all started with FIDE Grand Prix Moscow (2017) and then I did some research into this Fries/Chips/Crisps, which led me to something called Angels/Devils on Horsebacks.

Tonight, I made Angels on Horsebacks with scallops. Still alive, I am. Must have not screwed up too bad(ly).

May-22-17  technical draw: Big surprise seeing <WannaBe> on the leader board in the chess bookie game. Congratulations. I hope you stay there and don't become a cellar dweller like me.

WannaBe: I had no idea today's Bitcoin pizza day.

http://www.investopedia.com/news/bi...

If you had bought $100 of Bitcoin 7 years ago, you would have $75M (That's right, Millions) today. Provide that you didn't get hacked, or lost it (Mt. Gox)

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/22/bitc...

If you had spend the same $100, bought FaceBook (FB) when it went IPO in 2012 you would have $260.35 as of today.

Here are some of the (considered hot) companies that went IPO in 2010, same year as first Bitcoin transaction:

MCP, HSFT, RP, YOKU, BSFT, QLIK, CIS, VRA, OAS, MMYT, ENV, FTM, MOTR, JKS, NOR, KH, HTHT, LEDS, DANG, ONE, SFUN, IPHI, ST, AMRS, FNGN

May-29-17  thegoodanarchist: <Provide that you didn't get hacked, or lost it (Mt. Gox)>

These are the very reasons I didn't buy bitcoin when it came out.

In order not to get my $100 hacked, I lost out on $75M!

Except I probably would have bout $1000 or more of it. And spent most of it. And sold out the rest, when it doubled.

<WannaBe: I know I am in the super minority here, but Java 1.8 Update 131 have just been confirmed (by me) to work with Chess Viewer Deluxe.>

This is intended to be helpful, so please don't take offense.

In your sentence above, "Java 1.8 Update 131" is singular, not plural, so it should be followed by "...<has> just been confirmed...."

Jun-03-17  thegoodanarchist: < WannaBe: Memo to self, next time car won't start, jiggle/turn the steering wheel first.>

Yes, but will you remember to go onto cg.com when it doesn't start?

No, seriously, I have hard time with noun/plural agreements and time tenses... And I insist on turning off spelling and grammar check so I will learn.

Stupid English language.

The English language isn't exactly stupid, but it's also not very logical. That's probably because language is the product of history rather than methodical planning, and English appeared from a particularly long and complex history.

Subject-verb agreement can confound even native speakers, but I've noticed that it's particularly troublesome to people whose first language originates in east Asia. That, I suppose, is because the grammar in those languages is very different from that in English.

There is no shame in finding English challenging. Keep working on the parts that give you trouble. But also realize that, although imperfect, your English is not at all bad.
