Jun-28-18  Golden Executive: <morfishine: BTW: Thanks <Golden Executive> for pointing this out! A great World Cup, don't you think? I watched 34 consecutive games, drinking 14 cases of beer in the process, so don't ask for recaps LOL>

Hi <morf>, I'm glad to say hello to you my friend. As you can guess, being from Mexico I have gone from the euphoria of the first game with the win against Germany to the disappointment of the defeat by Sweden. Well, everything is part of the show. I really enjoy the World Cup.

No doubt Mexico is the underdog in their next game vs Brazil but better not take the win for granted. In recent years, Mexico has been a very complicated opponent for Brazil

Anyway, let's continue enjoying the games now that the best is coming. Get ready for another 14 cases of beer! :)

You need to replace either Mexico or Belgium with Portugal or Argentina to make it work.

<WannaBe> Do you also want the 3rd place playoff prediction? Nobody else gave it, so I didn't as well.

Penguincw: < technical draw: I think we should not post quarters, semis, or finals until we know which teams will be participating. >

Well the scoring system does keep the uncertainty factor in mind (double the points as the round progresses).

This method is fine. An alternate method is for each R16/QF/SF/F winner you picked, you get 1 point regardless, as to not double penalize (which I have used for my far less popular hockey bracket prediction contests).

Do you have me on ignore? ;) (I checked, and it's no, which is good :) )

Diademas: The format is Ok. The only thing is that if your teams for the finals go early your pretty much out of it. The points uptil now counts for nothing.
Jun-29-18  technical draw: Rest of predictions

Semi finals:

Uruguay
Mexico
Croatia
Colombia

Finals:
Mexico
Colombia

Champion:

Mexico.

WannaBe: <TheAlchemist> Not this time, I know in the past there was prediction for 3rd place.

<Diademas> Yeah, it's kinda/sorta/like the NCAA basketball bracket (very popular in US during March), if you have some team, e.g. Duke, Kansas, MichSt, and they bomb, and go out in round 2. Your bracket is pretty much/virtually done.

Jun-29-18  Count Wedgemore: <juan31: Quarters :

Uruguay, México, Croatia, Colombia

Semifinal Colombia , Croatia,>

This is wrong. If Colombia and Croatia make it to the SF, they will play each other. So they cannot both win and go to the final.

I'll post this on his forum as well. Hope he sees his error in time to correct it.

Jun-29-18  Count Wedgemore: R-16: Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Spain, Croatia, Switzerland, England

Q-Finals: Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland

Semi-Finals: Brazil, Spain

Final: Brazil

Jun-29-18  Golden Executive: R-16: Uruguay, France, Brazil, Belgium, Spain, Croatia, Sweden, England

Semifinals: Brazil, Spain

Final: Brazil
