offramp: White is a pawn up with the better position. The match had begun on 16th September 1974 and now this game, played on the 22nd November 1974, made Karpov the winner of the Candidates' Final and ultimately World Champion.

shalgo: A draw gave Karpov the match victory and, as it turned out when Fischer refused to defend his title, the World Championship. He was interested in winning the match--whether he won or drew this game was immaterial to him.

May-30-11  Llawdogg: It must have been frustrating to try to get anything going against Karpov.
