May-20-03 | | Rookpawn: I'm sure that Kasparov was forced by the "thematic" rules to play 3... Qh4+; this move is regarded negatively these days because it wastes time when the queen is chased, also, the white king moves to a somewhat safer square (f1). |

 | | Honza Cervenka: 10...gxh4 is very bad move. After natural 10...g4!? the position is very complicated, but probably not bad for black. |
May-20-03 | | JGD: This was one of the fun games the two played after Kasparov slaughtered Short. They were given a position to play from as a fun exhibition. |
May-21-03 | | Rookpawn: Some people compared playing all the games of the series after the result was determined to a tennis match where a player had already won three sets, but the last two were played anyway as an exhibition. |
Sep-17-03 | | GrandDutchman: Actually, 3... Qh4 is not that bad, but 4... b5 is very bad, but Kasparov was forced to play it. In his book he said his first intention was just to resign. |
Sep-17-03 | | Shadout Mapes: This variation is, of course, famous for The Immortal Game. |
Dec-21-03 | | patzer2: In the final position, Fritz 8 analyzes the White win as follows: 1) If 15...fxe4 16. Qh4+! Kd8 17. Rxf8+! Rxf8 18. Bg5+ Kc8 19. Nf5! Qf2+ 20. Kxf2 winning the queen with decisive advantage. 2) If 15...Bxe4 16. Rxe4+ fxe4 17. Qxe4+ Kd8 18. Nf5! Qxg2+ 19. Qxg2 Rxg2+ 20. Kxg2 with a piece up in an easily won ending. |

Jan-15-04 | | morphyvsfischer: Maybe they were forcing Kaspy to lose by playing the crappiest 'exclusively 1850's' line |
Jan-26-04 | | InspiredByMorphy: What a pleasure to see Kasparov lose to the Kings gambit, and everybody defend him. Could it be that he lost, because he deserved to? |
Jan-26-04 | | technical draw: Well, I wouldn't say that Kaspy "lost" anything. It was just a fun exhibition. However, just wait, and we'll see Kaspy losing regularly, just like any other mortal (or immortal). |
Feb-10-04 | | Taidanii: I honestly have never seen Garry beaten this quickly. If there's a game where he loses even faster, someone please post a link. |
Feb-10-04 | | Stavrogin: Kasparov losing regularly?
No signs of that yet.
His match against the european champion recently was almost scaring!
No one else is near.
Yet. |
Feb-10-04 | | Stavrogin: Another thing bout the game above: Short.
Would like to see him back at the top.
His idol is Morphy and that shows when you play through his game. He has a classical feel which it is nice to see in todays chess. His choice of openings is true to his taste in this regard.
Was easliy defeated by Kasparov, but that should not be hold too much against him. |
Feb-10-04 | | square dance: who is the euro champ? |
Feb-10-04 | | Taidanii: Another major reason that I like short: He isn't a manufactured chess player. Garry, Kramnik Etc. (Mostly Russian) are manufactured. I hope i got my point across... |
Feb-10-04 | | Hinchliffe: Technical Draw or anyone else could you please explain move 4 .... b5. Is it just a sac in order to move the bishop and get counterplay going? |
Feb-10-04 | | Stavrogin: Azhmarparashvili (not the exact spelling, go to players drectoru on A and u will see him instantly) is eurochamp. Was predicted by Petrosian to be world champion. Top 20 rating today, so Kasparovs 5½-½ is dominating in a kind of Fischer-a-la-71-vs-other-candidates-kind-of-way. |
Mar-18-04 | | LOUDERMILK: Someone tell me why exactly Kasparov resigned. |
Mar-18-04 | | crafty: 15. ... ♗xe4 16. ♖xe4+ fxe4 17. ♕xe4+ ♗e7 18. ♘f5 (eval 6.75; depth 14 ply; 1000M nodes) |
Jul-17-04 | | Papa Zhuravlik: <Taidanii...manufactured> lol. Be serious, please; "manufactured." You are hilarious...
All I can say is that "they" should have manufactured more Kazparovs and less Kramniks; too bad "they" only manufactured one Kaspy. |
Jul-17-04 | | michlo: Taidanii- what's ur definition of manufactured? |
Aug-26-04 | | shepherdsayi: kasparov was not serious!!!but he is a zinedine zidane!!!! |
Aug-26-04 | | acirce: <Kasparovs 5½-½ is dominating in a kind of Fischer-a-la-71-vs-other-candidates-kind-of-way.> Maybe we should mention here that 4 of the games in Kasparov's match against Azmaiparashvili were blitz and the other two rapid. Still impressive, but since he hasn't done anything like that at classical time controls for a long time ... |
Aug-26-04 | | IMDONE4: Kasparov really blew it when he lost 2 the king's gambit in only 15 moves. Nowadays Qh4 is rarely played by players with the strength of a master or greater. I myself play the simple variation where I take the pawn. Qh4 actually helps activate whites minor pieces quickly, while black rarely succeeds on an assault on the king in high level chess. |
Aug-26-04 | | square dance: <imdone4> this opening was picked for kasparov, and if i remember correctly after he lost he stormed off stage. |
