| TylerD: Short is my favorite active player. There are several reasons for this: I When I first discovered chess two games of Short´s captured my imagination: 1. His famous King s walk-win against Timman. 2. The game vs Kasparov, in the WC match, where he wore a red shirt... He took the fight to greatest, showing no fear! :) II His handling of the french defense.
III In my point of view Short plays the most elegant chess of all the players of today. There is a classical feel to his play that I enjoy thoroughly. IV The man doesn t only know how to handle the pieces; he also knows how to handle the words... He is verbal, entertaining and witty. I do not feel that this is common among chessplayers... V The man plays the Evan s gambit regularly. In the 21st century! That is as close as one can get to being truly cool as a chessplayer! I could of course come up with more reasons, but the above made points are enough to explain why I will be hoping for Short to do well in London - and later in Corus. |

| Violence: <Nigel Short> Six dollars? The last tie I bought cost me 140 from the brooks brothers but I like that one even better! Maybe next time I want to go shopping I will just buy a ticket to china. Ill save that much on ties. I never knew that I always found it interesting how a place as large as china managed to stay so low key in the history books. |

| Nigel Short: There was nothing guaranteed about his victory, but 16-1 were ridiculous odds for the hottest player in the world at the moment. |

| HeMateMe: Carlsen paid off at 16-1? Thats impossible, gotta be an error. What book maker would make the world's highest ranked player such an underdog? |

| HeMateMe: but MC had to be say, one of 5 people with a realistic chance of winning this. Wouldnt money pile on mc at 16-1? BTW, why are the paddies running the gaming? Doesnt' London have its own book? |
