Feb-13-05  MidnightDuffer: The author of an upcoming book, "The London System", April 28th is the set release date, check it out at amazon, why do they already have the cover of the book though? Sounds good!

ray keene: probably bellins greatest international success was a clear first prize in the international tournament -all play all-held at beijing canton and shanghai in 1981. bellin dominated this event ahead of chinas top players, jon speelman and myself.

Jun-30-06  THE pawn: the bellin wall.
Jan-01-07  Necessary Truths: The guy must be an optimist for marrying Dr. Jana Malypetrova Hartston Miles Bellin. From this we can deduce that the proper style of play against him is conservative - waiting for him to take some kind of risk and then exploiting it.
Jun-21-07  Thorsson: I find it slightly odd that Bellin and Dr Jana appear to have lasted the course. IIRC correctly Bellin's education was extremely truncated, because even at an early age he was absolutely fixated on chess. OTOH perhaps there's a pattern here, Hartston was Cambridge, Miles dropped out of Sheffield...

I remember that he used to turn up at all the congresses in a battered old camper van, which definitely didn't have a shower on board...

Dec-10-07  brankat: From the Bio: <He is the current Husband of Dr. Jana Malypetrova Hartston Miles Bellin.>

Hmmm, sounds so 21st century,She must have had a few :-)

Jul-09-08  Broon Bottle: I understand Mr Bellin has earned a GM norm. How is his quest going to become one of the oldest new GMs? ch-cheers
Aug-04-08  Broon Bottle: Any news on Bellin's hopes of becoming the oldest GM in town?
Jun-30-10  wordfunph: WGM Jana Malypetrova married British IM William Hartston in 1970. She later divorced him and married GM Tony Miles. She later divorced him and married IM Robert Bellin?

MissScarlett: Now we know what attracted Jana:

May-16-21  Nosnibor: I note that game 163 is a duplicate of game 164 in the data base. With reference to Robert I first met him when he was a teenager whilst he was competing in the 1969 British Championship. A very amicable young man and I believe he met Jana whilst playing in a local tournament. The last time I saw him was at Alan Edwards funeral in 2010. He and Alan were good friends.

MissScarlett: Are you sure they're duplicates? The system has a quirk that sometimes causes the same game to be listed twice. Check the respective gids.
