May-01-04  badbadLeroyBrown: In an inexplicable display of chess mastery gone awry, Kharlov and Kramnik agree to a draw after move 7, agreeing that all winning chances have been exhausted.

Later analysis by IBM's Deep Blue2 (1280GZ processor,320 Gz RAM) revealed that had the game been played to the bitter end, however, that Kharlov could've underpromoted his QB pawn to a knight, forcing mate on move 85.

May-01-04  Lawrence: Hey, <bb>, it's May the first, not April the first.
Oct-30-04  fgh: lol!!!!
Jul-26-05  Medusa: WOW, THIS IS REALLY A GREAT GAME, A MASTERPIECE, IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN KRAMNIKS BOOK "My 60 memorable draws"
Jul-26-05  howardtheduck: I'd want to know what are the stories behind those draws. I mean, it is not a draw position but they did agreed on the draw. so there must be something else, tournament strategy, fide points, or anyhting else. I would love to aks those why tehy agreed on the draw...
Jul-26-05  Medusa: Well i think in some cases, players may be tired and they can agree a draw; some tournaments are too long and players can get really exhausted.

Some others will want to earn or not loose points.

But in the case of Kramnik, i mean Drawmnik, its for pleasure, he loves to make short draws, do you think its in vane he has become Classical Draw Champion???

he is the best drawish player ever

Jul-26-05  THE pawn: My goodness, now that is one theater of nonsense. Folks, we have a new clown in our Tent, Clowmnik!
Jul-29-05  PawnField: Game Collection: Kramnik Draw Champion

a nice collection, in the art of making short draws

Jul-29-05  PawnField: A NEW COLLECTION!!! im starting it,just have 6 games, but i will put many more!!

Game Collection: A few nice Kramnik Blunders

Aug-18-05  Taimanov Lines: Didnt know until today that Kramnik could play so well with Pirc defence, this its an astonishing game!!!!!!
Aug-21-05  Tango Chess: Kramnik wanted toa vod fatigue here, congrats for his discusting, boring, lack of respect short draw!!!!
Aug-21-05  ughaibu: Does anyone find Kramnik's draws more boring than Tango Chess's comments? Unlikely, I think.
Aug-21-05  who: Don't forget he was playing black. At the top level it's probably not hard to force a draw with white if that's what you're intent on.
Aug-31-05  Arquetipal: <vishyanand: kramnik is such a fighter!>

you are right, he fight very hard in this game in order to obtain a draw, he first tried to make a pre-arranged draw calling by phone Andrei Kharlov but he refused, then he offered him a draw again in the first move, complaining about sickness and fatigue but his opponent again refused,

later he beg his opponent again, and after 5 times being asked for a draw, Kharlov finally accepted.

Aug-31-05  who: <PawnField> in more than half of those games (if I'm not miscalculating) Kramnik has black.
Aug-31-05  Quantos: Kramnik loves to draw with both pieces, black and white

Im sure that he propose this draw.

Aug-31-05  Quantos: i saw in chessmetrics.com that kramnik has been together the most boring and drawish, non exciting chess player ever
Sep-02-05  Cochrane: In these years, Kramnik made a great drawish season!!!!
Sep-24-05  Professor X: An early example of the Kramnik trademark.
Oct-22-05  lopium: At least he didn't lost. Well, I guess he has a much higher rating than his oppenent here. He draw against weak and try to beat strong, that way he can't really decrease his rating, or maybe that's a bit a false judgment.
Mar-21-06  Phaethon: Firstly id like to say that i dont find short draws interesting but Kramnik's rating and results speak or themselves. Secondly, why is this is one of Kharlov's notable games. Whats that about?
Mar-22-06  Karpova: <Secondly, why is this is one of Kharlov's notable games. Whats that about?>

It's one of Kharlov's notable games because of so many people (or shall i say accounts of few people) creating game collections on "Kramnik the Draw Champion"

<lopium: Well, I guess he has a much higher rating than his oppenent here. He draw against weak and try to beat strong, that way he can't really decrease his rating, or maybe that's a bit a false judgment.>

Kramnik was 14 at the time this game was played while Kharlov was aged 22 so i bet that Kramnik wasn't the favourite

Jun-21-06  Topzilla: <Kramnik was 14 at the time this game was played while Kharlov was aged 22 so i bet that Kramnik wasn't the favourite>

Kramnik, or i better say Drawnik?? was with a higher elo than his opponent, and anyway age is not an excuse.

Jun-24-06  MindRotorVia: Why focus on the short draws, instead of looking the nice games??
Jul-09-08  Abejorral: Oh, drawmnik started young...
