If you had said "infinite chess" you would have received one point.

offramp: Yesterday was M Lewitt vs H Caro, 1905, Horatio, who appears in the exact same line as Yorick.
Jul-07-18  thegoodanarchist: I drew him, Horatio
Jul-07-18  Viennablue: 18. Bb4 (instead of 18.Bc3 as in the game) would have been worth a try...
Jul-07-18  sfm: Hi, I saw your posting about problems when vising lichess.org

I wrote an answer. Hope that you didn't really have problems! M Lewitt vs H Caro, 1905

Note that the posting is totally off-topic chesswise.

Jul-07-18  sfm: It was probably hopeless already, but giving Black two passed pawns with 47.c4 hardly helped?
Jul-07-18  morfishine: A real yawner of a GOTD. They really should discontinue this segment of <CG>
Jul-07-18  Howard: Yes, some of the choices for "game" of the day, are questionable. Personally, I'd rather see the website recycle past GOTD's--in other words, if a game was GOTD several years back, well, why not nominate it again?
Jul-07-18  ChessHigherCat: I think it's an instructive game, for several reasons. First of all, who is better here, 13. black to move?

I think 9 out of 10 players would say white, but SF says advantage black (--0.19) if he had played the counterintuitive 3..h3, but gives a slight advantage to white after black plays the "obvious" game move 3...Be6.

Jul-07-18  cormier: Stockfish 8 (minimum 30s/ply) 10. f4 <better is 10.b3> Be6 11.a4 Nf6 12.Ba3 Bxc4 13.Bxc4 Qxd1 14.Raxd1 h5 = +0.49 (34 ply)
Jul-07-18  Mendrys: A good GOTD. I enjoy games with material imbalances. Alas, poor Borick couldn't take advantage of his slight material advantage as he had hoped.
Jul-07-18  JimmyRockHound: How does Black win from the final position?
Jul-07-18  Granny O Doul: It looks rough for White after 49...a5. The game may have been adjourned in the final position, which would make resignation an especially attractive option.
