TheAlchemist: Nunn successfully refuted White's opening. Apparently Perecz thought it was fine, since he had already won in this variation in fine style 5 years earlier:

Jun-14-05  patzer2: Perecz actually played well up until his blunder 23. Bxg5?? Instead 23. bxc3! Rh8 24. c4 = to should be good for drawing chances.

TheAlchemist: <patzer2> Thanks, I didn't even notice that. I deserve a slap on the forehead... just a second... Ouch!... OK, done. :-)
Jun-14-05  patzer2: <TheAlchemist> Don't be so hard on yourself. Reducing the first player to fighting to hold a draw is pretty much a refutation of White's opening in my book.
