Jul-12-04 | | KingPawn: force mate! |
Dec-05-08 | | Helios727: Does that approach to the to white side of the Najdorf get good results in club play? |
Dec-01-14 | | TheFocus: From a simul in Houston, Texas on March 28, 1964.
Fischer scored +51=3-3. |
Jun-26-23 | | King.Arthur.Brazil: Really: 27. Qxh6+ Kxh6 28. Rh2+ Kg6 29. Bh5+ Kh6 30. Bxf7+ Bh3 31. Rxh3#. Good Mondays! |
Jun-26-23 | | Mayankk: Good to see a Fischer game, even if just a simul. Solution is straightforward and forced, as you would expect on a Monday. 27 Qxh6+ Kxh6 28 Rh2+ Kg6 29 Bh5+ Kh6/Kh7 30 Bxf7+ Bh3 31 Rxh3#. |
Jun-26-23 | | Brenin: Monday, so look for a Q sac on the h-file. Sure enough, 27 Qxh6+ Kxh6 28 Rh2+ Kg6 29 Bh5+ Kh6 (or Kh7) 30 Bxf7 with mate. |
Jun-26-23 | | Brenin: 17 ... Bxh4 and 18 ... g5 invited trouble. Later, 26 ... Rg8 blocked the K's escape, whereas g4 would have avoided White's mating attack. |
Jun-26-23 | | jrredfield: I saw the queen sac right away. It took a few minutes to see the full mate sequence. I have it a bit different than <Brenin>. 27 Qxh6+ Kxh6 28 Rh2+ Bh3 29 Rxh3+ Kg6 30 Bh5+ Kh6 31 Bxf7# |
Jun-26-23 | | Mayankk: White made its intentions clear quite early with 22 Qh2, 23 f5 and 26 Rf2 . Black's planned defense was Kh7 and Rg8 - Rg6 to safeguard the weak h6 pawn while planting its Queen on the dark a7 - g1 diagonal to get its own attack going. As it often happens against strong players, it was just a move too slow. |

 | | takebackok: Easy peasy queen sack Monday! |
Jun-26-23 | | mel gibson: Easy peasy Monday. LOL |
Jun-26-23 | | geeker: Nice variant on Q sac Monday. The obvious try works, but it's mate in 5 rather than 2 or 3. |
Jun-26-23 | | CCastillo: Nice observation, geeker. Very nice observation. |
Jun-26-23 | | agb2002: White can open the h-file and control all the squares around the black king: 27.Qxh6+ Kh6 28.Rh2+ Kg6 29.Bh5+ Kh6(7) 30.Bxf7+ and mate next. |
Jun-26-23 | | TheaN: Everything has been said about the puzzle position, <27.Qxh6+ #3>. The entire line is forced though Black has the unfortunate choice when to interpose on h3. |

Jun-26-23 | | Refused: 27.Qxh6+ Kxh6 28.Rh2+ Kg6 29.Bh5+ Kh6(7) 30.Bxf7# Cute little variation of the Q sac on h2(7) to deliver mate with a rook on the open h-file. Just that white had to get the bishop to f7 after the check. Easy enough, but would've thought this was more of a Tuesday level of difficulty. |
Jun-26-23 | | jrredfield: Actually a bit more difficult for me than Sunday's POTD. |

 | | NMABQjmgChess: It must be Monday as I was able to figure this one out. |
Jun-26-23 | | Hercdon: Classic Monday Queen sac mate-in-a-few |
Jun-26-23
 | | gawain: Satisfying. |
Jun-26-23 | | johnnydeep: Dang it, I missed the discovered check with 30. Bxf7+ and so couldn't see how the queen sac would win. Slightly tricky Monday for me. |
Jun-26-23 | | Damenlaeuferbauer: After long thinking, America's pride Robert James "Bobby" Fischer finally found the mate in 5 moves with the nice queen sacrifice 27.Qxh6+!,Kxh6 28.Rh2+,Kg6 (28.-,Bh3 29.Rxh3+,Kg6 30.Bh5+,Kh6/Kh7 31.Bf7#) 30.Bh5+,Kh6/Kh7 29.Bh5+,Kh6/Kh7 30.Bxf7+,Bh3 31.Rxh3#. He taught all of us how to play the royal game. |
