WannaBe: This will be a draw, 60 moves.
May-11-06  DeepBlade: I hope Anand will show something dazzling to Topa. Only 1 rating point difference!
May-11-06  notyetagm: Last year when Topalov played White against Anand at M-Tel 2005, he played the Chess Informant Best Game Prize winner Topalov vs Anand, 2005.
May-11-06  samikd: a draw in a Queen's Indian
May-11-06  Dr. B: topolav will win this just to show his superiority to even anand.
May-11-06  you vs yourself: One of the very few times two 2800 players play each other in classical chess. Should be an exciting game, regardless of the result!

For the opening, I'll pick the cochraine gambit:)

WannaBe: Topalov will open with the Grob and Anand will answer with the Borg defence.
May-11-06  samikd: <One of the very few times two 2800 players play each other in classical chess>

Actually only the 2nd case, in the history of chess. The only other being <Kasparov-Kramnik> (how many games did they play when both were above 2800 ?)

There is an astronomical gap between Topalov/Anand's rating and the rating of the other top guys. This has to be unique, too.

May-11-06  yataturk: the indian wins
May-11-06  colp99: Hope to see a victory for Anand.
May-11-06  MrMojoRisin: Go Vishy!
May-11-06  chessmoron: <Dr. B> You wish. Vishy will strike lightning on Topa's butt.
May-11-06  CapablancaFan: <WannaBe: This will be a draw, 60 moves> Topa's white? Lol. It will be Anand praying to come away from this thing HOPEFULLY with a draw!
May-11-06  aw1988: You underestimate Anand. The man is a chess legend, and is not so easily disposed of.
May-11-06  Confuse: topalov has a lot of trouble beating anand... i ll be amazed if topalov wins, moderately suprised if anand wins, and expecting the draw. topalov cant afford to think hes better then anand... yet. same for anand ^_^
May-11-06  walker: for the future generations....if you live in 22 Century and read this...you should know that the game hasn't started yet. The people in 21 Century like to talk about chess events in advance.
May-11-06  NakoSonorense: Thx for telling me, walker. You people from the 21st Century are weird.
May-11-06  aw1988: You people in the 22nd century are strange. My mentality belongs somewhere in the 16th.

WannaBe: For you people in the 22nd century, we have no idea what we are talking about in the year 2006. =)

tamar: Yes, people in the 21st century still occasionally played chess on boards, and computers hadn't reached 3300 strength yet.

Hard to believe I know.

WannaBe: <tamar> Nah... they'll have quantum computers that will have solved the game.
May-11-06  weisyschwarz: I say a Sicilian Najdorf, and a draw in 50 moves. Very few fireworks.
May-11-06  olydream3: both Anand and Topalov are going to give in everything they got to win this game.

Especially Anand, who wants to keep the lead.

May-11-06  crazy monk: Spanish game, 40 move draw.
May-12-06  chessmoron: God, I can't wait for this game to start tmrw.
