Jan-24-07 | | Arno Nickel: <Thorsson> ... Some further information about the Simon Webb Memorial. This will be a semi-live event on the ICCF-server. That means all games will be shown with a 5 move delay. For those, who are interested, I will post a link, when the tournament gets started.
I am very eager to play this tournament, as I knew Simon Webb (recently I published the new German edition of his 'Chess for Tigers'), and also because the group of participants is very interesting. Sanakoev and Palciauskas are the ex-Worldchampions, and with the Elo favourite Schoen (2685) I played already in the year 1987 (when he was a young FIDE IM) in the pre-computer era (draw). Later on we got chess friends, and now we are going to play our second game...
Besides, after all (my defeat to the World) my results in the WC Final 21 will be capable in the end. At least one big Elo lion (you probably will know whom I mean) will have to resign within the next few moves. I will report it here, when the game is finished. It was one of the remarkablest games I have ever played, starting with a completely mysterious opening.
By the way, here is a link to my page, where you can find further informations to "The World vs. Nickel" game (#4): Arno Nickel Bye, Arno |

Jan-28-07 | | AugustAle: <cg.com> Would it be possible to post all of the voting tallies here to become a part of the record within this game? I can find nothing before 19.. (i think 1-18 may have been posted only as a banner?). Thanks. |
|
Jan-28-07 | | Karpova: <AugustAle: (i think 1-18 may have been posted only as a banner?)>
There were no moves posted at all. You had to look at the board to see the move which had been executed. |
|
Jan-28-07 | | AugustAle: <Karpova:><cg:> Right. Thanks. Sorry.
- I meant to say <displayed> in the bars below the board (MOVES:,CANDIDATE MOVES ยท VOTING FOR ...?, etc) [banner?] vs posted, as nothing was posted. Just looking for the voting totals, and hoping they can be included here for all, or inserted on the appl page. If you can help? Thank You. |

There had been those statistics in <rebjorn>'s profile but he kept them until the Shulman game started only. I don't know if anyone saved them. |
|
Jan-28-07 | | AugustAle: <Karpova> Yea, i watched them disappear, tried looking through my cache but too late, and i've been looking around, even dug thru about 1K of these pages. |

Feb-20-07 | | Elixir of Life: <Arno Nickel>:
I don't know where this post is more appropriate, the World vs Arno Nickel game page or the Arno Nickel player page, so I'm gonna post this in both threads. One of the closest and most hotly debated battle, on move 29/30, was concerning the R1f2 manouver vs the fxg6/Qg5 manouver. The R1f2 supporters feel that if we play otherwise, your rooks will reach the 7th rank. The fxg6/Qg5 supporters consider the threat of your rooks at 7th as a "paper tiger". Which move do you think is better? I'd like to hear some analysis on your side.
Bye. |
