Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-29-09  paladin at large: Nice combination by Kashdan with 22....Rxd2. Bogo was asking for it by leaving his king to himself.
Apr-29-09  AnalyzeThis: Let's make sure the long white diagonal against the king is wide open, then transfer the white squared bishop as far away as possible.

Whee!

Sep-09-14  jerseybob: I blame white's oddball variation 5.Bf4 for all his troubles. After 5..dc!6.e3,Nd5 if 7.Bg3,Ndb6 black might consolidate the extra pawn. But after the forced 7.Bc4,Nf4, white's game is a mess, and 15..Qd6, forcing the weakening 16.g3 makes it even worse. Better for white might've been the solid 5.e3 or the more adventurous 5.Bg5.
Jun-03-21  drdos7: <jerseybob> 5.Bf4 is a solid book move, and after that move white held an advantage up to move 21 where he was outright winning if he played the right move 21.Qc2! instead of 21.Bc2?? which loses.

Tabanus: 37...Qf2+ according to Spielmann in Tidskrift för Schack 1930 p. 246. That wins too.

offramp: Kashdan was very strong in those days. He and Reuben Fine could have been equally strong.
Kashdan was being attacked by Bogolubiloof.

White now has the move. Tough isn't it? Black is threatening 21...cxb3. Bogo opted for 21. Bc2? Kashdan replied with
21...Qf6! Now Black is winning, even though he is 2 pawns down.
Clever defence!
