 | | wordfunph: Naka after the game..
"Magnus surprised me in the opening and I haven't been feeling well for a few days now so it just seemed like the practical thing to more or less simplify the game. I suppose earlier somewhere maybe I could have tried to go for something a little bit more but I didn't really see the need and onus isn't on me to beat Magnus, he's the one that's supposed to be the better player so a draws not so bad for me I think. You'd have to ask Magnus about it more. As far as the whole game goes." http://www.chess.co.uk/twic/chessne... |

 | | Domdaniel: So what happened to the kibitzes posted while this tedious stuff was masquerading as Giri-Aronian? An unintended, though still unfortunate, insult to the brilliancy of the real Aronian win. Have they just wiped everything in the hope that the incident will be forgotten? Hmm. Quite a good plan, actually. |

| Jan-26-12 | | King Death: < ajile: A draw as White is NOT good.> Here's what I had to say about it on Nakamura's page: < King Death: No big surprise in this one, Nakamura's happy to get on the board against one of his betes noires and Carlsen gets his bearings back after yesterday's unpleasant loss...> In this context I think it makes a lot more sense than to simply judge the result. |

Have they just wiped everything in the hope that the incident will be forgotten?> Evidently so. Poor form. |

| Jan-27-12 | | kappertjes: If Naka's remark is anything to go by soon MC will have to focus more on his openings simply because everyone will aiming and playing for a draw. This is especially true because 2700+ GMS aiming for a draw will often get one. |
 |
| Jan-27-12 | | King Death: < kappertjes: ...2700+ GMS aiming for a draw will often get one.> These players have such experience and knowledge that especially when they're White if they just play a solid opening, they'll get that draw like you say. It's tough to imagine even the 2800 players winning many. |

| Feb-02-12 | | kiiuglik: these guys should play for a win as they already on top of most chess players.. frankly , we depend on them to watch exciting games and learn from them |
 |
| Feb-02-12 | | ajile: It's a sad commentary on the game when players feel great about drawing with White. So he gains a few rating points by drawing against a higher rated opponent. Is this what chess has sunk to? Yuck. |
