kingscrusher: It is in effect a King’s Indian attack system which is the Glek system .. I thought this Glek system is cool
Jun-26-22  VerySeriousExpert: 13...Bxe3 is a large mistake. It isn't C47. It's Bednikova Opening (please, look at the pawn structure).
Jun-26-22  VerySeriousExpert: The Bednikova Opening (the Woman Player's Luck Opening), by transposition: 1.e4 e5 2.b3 Nf6 3.Nc3 Bc5 4.Nf3 Nc6 5.h3 d6 6.g3 0-0 7.Bg2 a5 8.0-0 h6 9.d3, for example.

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: Odd, looks like a C47 Four Knights with 4.g3 to me old brain. Eh, bien. Couldn't understand any of Black's moves after 16.Qg3, so it makes sense that my 5 remaining brain cells can't figure which opening name to use.

Seriously, why did Black destroy his own King side?

Jun-27-22  Ulhumbrus: 13...Bxe3?! opens the f file for White and allows the capture 14 fxe3 strengthening White's centre. One alternative is 13...Bb6.

19...Nxg5 allows White to keep the queens on whilst conceding less whereas 19...Qxg5 offers an exchange of queens which White will probably not want. Perhaps Duda is trying to win.

Perhaps after 21..Bxh3 Duda did not consider the zwischenzug 22 Rg1! However why open the h file by offering a knight on g5? 22...Qf6 covers the g7 pawn. The move 22...Ng5 looks like the last mistake.

After the final sacrifice 29 Ne4! fxe4 30 Qh5! Duda may have calculated a win for White in every variation and so seen no satisfactory answer to the threat of 31 Qh8+ Kf7 32 Qf6+ Kg8 33 Rh8 mate

Duda's earlier avoidance of an exchange of queens suggests that he went too far trying to win perhaps in order to improve his chance of winning the candidates tournament. Other players may feel some pressure to make a similar choice.

Troller: Engines give Black a healthy advantage after 14.fxe3. The ..h5 thrust was original but Black did not follow up in the best way; indeed he probably did not consider 22.Rg1. Engines will fight on after 26..f6 27.gxf6 Rf7 although in practice this defense looks tough.

Nice turnaround by Rapport. If he starts getting good positions instead of bad out of the opening, who knows what he might do...

Jun-27-22  VerySeriousExpert: About ECO codes and opening classification. It isn't "King's Indian Attack (A07)", because there was no Black's ...d7-d5. This game was started as C47 Four Knights, Glek Variation, but 8.b3 was its transposition into Bednikova Opening (C20, not "C46").
Jun-27-22  VerySeriousExpert: https://chessproblem.my-free-games.... . I'm sure, this article can help to find the right answer.
Jun-27-22  VerySeriousExpert: I can beat Stockfish by White pieces after 14.fxe3! . The human mind is stronger.

No way. 28.Rxg6+ and black will get mated soon. Do you mean 27...Rh7+ instead of Rf7? In any event, better for white is to respond to 26...f6 with 27.Kg1 and white keeps attacking.

  Troller: <Fusilli> Oops, I wrote wrong move number - should be 25..f6 26.gf Rf7
Jun-28-22  ChessHigherCat: Who's that rappin' at my port?
Is it Barnacle Bill the Sailor?
No, just some knight, sin Duda.

Troller: <HeMateMe: Does White also win by simply playing 28. Q-h3?>

I think Black may defend after 28..Rg7 which would also be the answer to 28.Rgh2.

Jul-01-22  ismet: u are right HeMateMe
Nov-07-22  tbontb: White chooses an unassuming opening and the game is roughly equal for a long time. Rapport gradually builds a strong K-side attacking position which Duda badly under-estimates and his 27....b4 loses outright. The last chance was probably 27....Rf8 28. Rh6 Rg7 29. exf5 Rxf5 30. Qg3, still with some advantage to White.
