Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-17-16  Ilkka Salonen: Does somebody know what happened here? He wins the finnsih championship in 1980 and dies the next year. Pertti Poutiainen, who won the finnsih championship in 1974 and 1975 also commited suicide in 1978. And of course with our neighbours to the south there was the Õll tragedy. I noticed that in today's Opening of the Day there was an original choice by another J Aijala, but by a person called Jouko Aijala, not Jorma. I wonder if there is some relation there. The finnish name is actually spelled Äijälä, so a with 2 dots times three equals six dots.
Jan-08-18  Olavi: The two Äijäläs are brothers.
