Stan Elowitch was Maine state champion in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1970 (shared), 1971, 1973 (shared), 1974, 1979, 1980 (shared), 1983 (shared) and 1999. On innumerable occasions, he was Portland city champion. Elowitch was Golden Knights (USCF postal) champion in 1987.

Stan was about 2300 back in the early 1980s, though he never played much. Believe he was a businessman of some sort, and after the game above, we met only one other time, in the 1983 Portland Open.

No idea where the game score is, but my recollection is that Stan had the better game as Black in a Slav but went wrong and I managed to win.
