Khosro Harandi was awarded the IM title in 1975. He won the Iranian Championships in 1971 and 1990, the Zonal FIDE tournaments in 1975 and 1978 (led him to play in the Interzonals 1976 at Manila and 1979 at Rio de Janeiro), and the Asian Senior Championship in 2010. He represented Iran in the Olympiads 1970, 1972, 1974, 1976 and 1990 and the World Student Team Championship in 1972. He has also been a coach of the Iranian national team. Harandi was a FIDE Senior Trainer.
