George Shainswit was born in New York City, New York, USA. He played in five US Championships and represented the US at the 1950 Olympiad at Dubrovnik. He tied for 1st place with Arnold Denker in the 1950 Manhattann Chess Club championship. He passed away in New York in 1997.

Oct-05-06  Resignation Trap: George Shainswit was born in New York City on January 3, 1918.

He was a participant in five US Championship tournaments: 1938, 1940, 1944, 1948 and 1951.

He also represented the USA in the Dubrovnik Olympiad of 1950.

Shainswit died in New York City on September 5, 1997.
