|Born circa either 1860-1 in Upper Canada (soon to become known as Ontario, Canada), Stephen Francis Smith tied for 10-11th in the British Chess Federation Congress at Oxford in 1910, & played in the (unofficial) 1924 Paris Olympiad. He was instrumental for helping the vast land expanse of the Canadian Federation sign up for its Zonal status after moving to Britain in the middle of the 1870s.|
