Mar-30-06 | | DCP23: Okay, joint winners then.
Still Moro is the real winner, say what you will. |
Mar-30-06 | | gmgomes: Congratulations for Moro and Anand for sharing 1st in Amber 2006.
Moro - the blindfold king
Anand - The Speed King. |
Mar-30-06 | | Ragh: Does anyone know the past winners list of the previous Amber tournaments. I would like to know who has most number of titles. |
Mar-30-06 | | acirce: total: http://www.ajedrezdeataque.com/05%2... rapid: http://www.ajedrezdeataque.com/05%2... blindfold: http://www.ajedrezdeataque.com/05%2... |

 | | Open Defence: <Ragh> i dont have the stats but i think Anand probably tops the list of previous wins |
Mar-30-06 | | doremi: What is the next event for us chess junkies to congregate at cg again? |
Mar-30-06 | | acirce: <Open Defence> he is tied with Kramnik now, 5 first places each in the combined event (clear or shared). |
Mar-30-06
 | | Open Defence: wow, how many people would have picked "Drawnik" to do well at an event like Amber |
Mar-30-06 | | gmgomes: <What is the next event for us chess junkies to congregate at cg again?> European Championship - with Chucky, Radjabov and others (April 3rd) and Olimpiad in May. |
Mar-30-06 | | yalie: fair result that Anand and Moro tied. Just like Anand and Topa at WAZ, it would have been a travesty if either of them had finished second. Wow - Vishy has 4 blindfold, 5 rapid and 5 overall titles - to go alongwith his 5 WAZ titles. Compares nicely with Kasparov's streak at Linares and Kramnik's at Dortmund. In future tournaments, I cant imagine Moro not winning the blindfold, just as I cant imagine Vishy not winning the rapid. |
Mar-30-06 | | Ragh: so, the combined standings for Amber tourney since its inception are - Anand 5 titles (4 clear, 1 shared)
Kramnik 5 titles (2 clear, 3 shared)
Moroz 3 titles (0 clear, 2 shared)
Shirov 2 titles (1 clear, 1 shared)
Topalov 1 titles (0 clear, 1 shared)
Karpov 1 title (1 clear)
Ivanchuk 1 title (1 clear)
Ljubojvic 1 title (1 clear)
Kasparao 0 titles? |
Mar-30-06
 | | Open Defence: <Ragh: Moroz 3 titles (0 clear, 2 shared) > something doesnt quite add up there .. |
Mar-30-06 | | Ragh: <Open Defence> Here is the corrected one: Anand - 5 titles (4 clear, 1 shared)
Kramnik - 5 titles (2 clear, 3 shared)
Moroz - 3 titles (1 clear, 2 shared)
Shirov - 2 titles (1 clear, 1 shared)
Topalov - 1 title (1 shared)
Karpov - 1 title (1 clear)
Ivanchuk - 1 title (1 clear)
Ljubojvic - 1 title (1 clear)
Kasparao - 0 titles?

Mar-30-06
 | | Open Defence: hmmm did Kasparov ever take part in Amber ? |
Mar-30-06 | | percyblakeney: <hmmm did Kasparov ever take part in Amber ?> Nope, I read somewhere that he doesn't like blindfold competitions. |
Mar-30-06 | | percyblakeney: ...found the link:
<Kasparov has never played the Melody Amber (named for the daughter of the tournament's patron: the rich, amiable, and charmingly eccentric correspondence chess GM J.J. van Oosterom). Kasparov considers blindfold chess a sideshow not for serious competition> http://www.chessninja.com/dailydirt... |
Mar-30-06 | | notyetagm: <Open Defence: wow, how many people would have picked "Drawnik" to do well at an event like Amber> Kramnik used to be an outstanding player. Don't know how many times I have to say that. |

Mar-30-06 | | Jim Bartle: <Kramnik used to be an outstanding player. Don't know how many times I have to say that.> |

Vallejo-Leko 1/2-1/2
Anand wins Rapid and Moro wins Blind. Congrats to those two!!! |
Mar-30-06 | | doremi: Besides Vallejo which is the bigger surprise by ending up clear third, there is Van Wely which is the smaller suprise, but a surprise nonetheless by ending up ahead of Svidler and Ivanchuk. The Dutch billionaire sponsor and the Dutch fans should be proud of their fellow countryman |
Mar-30-06 | | Ragh: If it has a Dutch sponsor, why is the event being held in Monaco? |
Mar-30-06 | | Monoceros: For the gambling, of course!
Mar-31-06 | | doremi: Holland is too crowded, even the dogs there wag their tails up and down to save space |
May-25-07 | | notyetagm: <doremi: Holland is too crowded, even the dogs there wag their tails up and down to save space> LOL
