 | | offramp: <blunderclap: Third!> Close, but no cigar. |
May-14-14 | | Conrad93: What does the Sigeman & Co sell? |
May-14-14
 | | offramp: They sell fine old vintage Cuban hand-rolled expensive high-class 24 hour mammoth cigars. Same as Dannemann. |
May-14-14
 | | offramp: They also sell giblets. |
May-14-14
 | | perfidious: <Third!> shows up first by my reckoning--either the powers that be have eliminated what went before, or...... |
May-14-14 | | whiteshark: 22nd!
I always wanted to post this. |
May-14-14 | | waustad: Perhaps I'll be even more interested than usual, since I've been reading mysteries that take place in Malmö. My only personal experience was taking a train through there to København. They always have a mix of Swedish and foreign players. Besides, we get J L Hammer and Nils Grandelius in the same tournament. |

May-15-14 | | HSOL: I predict Hammer will win.
<waustad> May I ask what mystery/ies you've read which takes place in Malmö? |

 | | Check It Out: Please, no silliness. This is a serious chess site. |
May-16-14 | | Laskerschueler: What is Hammer doing??? |
May-16-14 | | Kanatahodets: Grandelis should resign; it is disrespect for old Ian: mate in 4 or give up rock for free. |
May-16-14 | | Kanatahodets: Hammer is hammered... |
May-16-14 | | Kanatahodets: Last! |
May-16-14 | | john barleycorn: <Kanatahodets: Hammer is hammered > Is Hammer not enjoying "remote coaching" from Carlsen in Norway? |
May-18-14 | | Everett: If you choose the right people to place on the ignore list, you can be first every time. |
May-18-14
 | | perfidious: <Everett> Quite true. |
May-18-14 | | Everett: I'll take giblet-flavored cigars. |

Oct-06-16 | | diagonal: <The tournament is in fact long time running now>, unfortunately the edition of 2014 turned out to be the last one (and the corresponding tournament homepage is shot down already). Sigeman & Co. at Malmö always showed an interesting mix of established players and rising stars, of familiar faces and new ones, the best Scandinavian players faced the very best of the world: Smyslov, Spassky, Korchnoi, Portisch, Timman, Miles, Short, Lautier, Hellers, Andersson, Beliavsky, Gulko, Gelfand, Ivanchuk, Shirov, Sasikiran, Nakamura, So, Caruana, Giri, Leko, Rapport, Judit Polgar, Pia Cramling or prodigy Magnus Carlsen who played in 2004 at Malmö his first tournament as a grandmaster. I saved some data, stats and anecdotes - an overview of the Malmö Siegeman & Co. invitation tournament series (1993 - 2014):
http://www.chessdiagonals.ch/402840...
Quiz:
Which player performed an amazing double winning at Sigeman & Co. in Malmö (<Invitation Tournament>, round robin), as clear first at his first and only entry, and at the traditional Politiken Cup in Copenhagen (<Open>, swiss system, today Xtracon Chess Open, played in Helsingor), as clear first <in the same year within one month>? |
