Feb-19-17 | | PhilFeeley: Good. Another tournament to watch. |
|
Feb-19-17 | | Clemens Scheitz: Que sorpresa ver a Ivan Morovic en la lista de participantes. Mucha suerte compatriota. |
|
Feb-22-17 | | sonia91: I wonder why Aeroflot isn't in the homepage of chess-results.com, it's stronger than Graz Open and it used to be the strongest open tournament in the world. |

 | | Troller: Only 3 players with maximum after rd 2, that's how strong this open (!) tournament is. Matlakov has white against Smirin, and Bluebaum has white against highest rated with 1½ (and top seed), Yu Yangi. I can see from the homepage that the agreement with Dortmunder Schachtage is still running, so the winner of the top group gets an invite to a closed super tournament. Not that Dortmund would be embarrassed by any of the top 20 seeds from Aeroflot. 5 players are 2700+, 22 are 2650+ and 40 players are 2600+. |

Feb-23-17
 | | Dionysius1: Maybe more an indication of how level it is. The best are all around 2650 aren't they? Gibraltar was a lot stronger, for example. |
|
Feb-23-17 | | sonia91: <Troller: Only 3 players with maximum after rd 2> After just 3 rounds (!) nobody has a perfect score! I remember two years ago only Sasikiran had 3/3. |
|
Feb-28-17
 | | Troller: This is so far a semi-disaster for Adhiban after his strong showing at Tata. His highest rated opponent in the first 7 rounds was 2573, yet Adhiban has lost 3 and won only 1 game. Rating loss 22,2 at the moment. After 7 rounds the top 8 players are Jobava and 7 Russians. But in these Swiss tournaments of course everything is decided in the very last rounds. |

Mar-01-17 | | paavoh: Great performance by the young Fedoseev, congrats! Very solid, with some luck sprinkled in (Khismatullin game). |
|
Mar-01-17 | | sonia91: Congrats to Fedoseev! He qualified for Dortmund 2017. |

 | | tamar: Were the blitz games recorded? |
|
Mar-02-17 | | sonia91: Anton Korobov won the blitz event with 15.5/18. Valentina Gunina tied for 6th with 12.5. Karjakin scored 11 and lost 92 blitz rating points: http://www.chessarbiter.com/turniej... <tamar> I don't think so. |

Mar-02-17
 | | tamar: thank you, sonia91. I couldn't find even pgns, although a handful of videos have appeared on youtube today, mostly of juniors, but a brief glimpse of Karjakin. |
|
Mar-02-17
 | | tamar: Karjakin looks off-form in his two games against Papin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwk... and was perhaps lucky to draw the first one. |

Mar-03-17 | | whiteshark: <Fedoseev> wins Aeroflot 22-year-old Russian GM <Vladimir Fedoseev> took clear first place at the prestigious Aeroflot Open, played from February 22nd to March 1st at the Cosmos Hotel in Moscow. <Fedoseev> obtained the title thanks to a great performance with White, as he won all four games he played with this color. This important victory also got him a place at the traditional Dortmund supertournament in July. check out the full chess24 analysis report: https://chess24.com/en/read/news/fe... |
