Jan-29-05  csmath: Leko decided not to play on win. So typical. And sad indeed.
Jan-29-05  percyblakeney: All games over for today, here's my kind of boring final round predictions:

I. Sokolov - V. Anand 0-1
P. Leko - J. Polgar ½-½
P. Svidler - V. Topalov ½-½
R. Ponomariov - L. Bruzon ½-½
V. Kramnik - A. Morozevich ½-½
L. van Wely - N. Short ½-½
M. Adams - A. Grischuk ½-½

Jan-29-05  nomaster: We have to admit, that even at his worst, Moro finds the way to entertain us. As far as losing moves go, 48...g6?, is quite surprising, and thought-provoking, yet not enough to avoid loss. Good to see Pono with an even score. He deserves even more.
Jan-29-05  yoozum: Pono is desperate to stay above 2700, it seems.
Jan-29-05  iron maiden: Not a bad day for me with 5/7, bringing my total over the last two rounds to twelve out of fourteen. Here are my final-round predictions:

Sokolov-Anand 0-1
Leko-Polgar 1/2
Svidler-Topalov 1/2
Ponomariov-Bruzon 1/2
Kramnik-Morozevich 1-0
van Wely-Short 1/2
Adams-Grischuk 1/2

Leko and Anand tie on overall points, but Anand is declared the winner on the "most wins" tiebreak.

Jan-29-05  TheSlid: Round 13:

Sokolov 0-1 Anand
Leko 1/2 Polgar
Svidler 1/2 Topalov
Ponomariov 1/2 Bruzon
Kramnik 1/2 Morozevitch
van Wely 1/2 Short
Adams 1-0 Grischuk

Jan-29-05  Grunfeld: My round 12 predictions:

I. Sokolov - V. Anand 0-1
P. Leko - J. Polgar 1/2
P. Svidler - V. Topalov 0-1
R. Ponomariov - L. Bruzon 1/2
V. Kramnik - A. Morozevich 1-0
L. van Wely - N. Short 1/2
M. Adams - A. Grischuk 1-0

Jan-29-05  Grunfeld: Sorry, I meant rnd 13, above.
Jan-29-05  csmath: This was Anand's day. He killed Adams in style, masterful game and no breaks for Adams. Judit Polgar played one typical game of hers, and the opponent wasnt ready. The rest is not entirely impressive.
Jan-29-05  yoozum: My predictions:

Sokolov-Anand 0-1
Leko-Polgar 1/2
Svidler-Topalov 1/2
Ponomariov-Bruzon 1/2
Kramnik-Morozevich 1-0
van Wely-Short 1/2
Adams-Grischuk 1/2

Nigel Short actually logged onto Playchess for a few games. I have to admire his resilience and devotion to chess.

Jan-29-05  Pawsome: Round 13
I. Sokolov - V. Anand  0-1
P. Leko - J. Polgar  1/2
P. Svidler - V. Topalov  1/2
R. Ponomariov - L. Bruzon  1-0
V. Kramnik - A. Morozevich  1/2
L. van Wely - N. Short  0-1
M. Adams - A. Grischuk  1/2
Jan-29-05  nomaster: What are your thoughts on Nielsen-Karjakin? This game is crucial to determine who we will see next year on group A, either Karjiakin or Mamedyarov.

Jan-29-05  acirce: My predictions:

I. Sokolov - V. Anand 0-1
P. Leko - J. Polgar 1/2
P. Svidler - V. Topalov 1/2
R. Ponomariov - L. Bruzon 1-0
V. Kramnik - A. Morozevich 1-0
L. van Wely - N. Short 1/2
M. Adams - A. Grischuk 1/2

Then Anand and Leko ties for first. If Anand wins tomorrow he will in fact reach above 2800 in rating once all his results are counted in.

Annie K.: Today's results mean Leko will be forced to play for a win against Judit tomorrow if he wants to win the tournament, since Anand can be pretty much relied on to beat Sokolov. Darn, I was hoping Leko could afford to draw Judit. This puts Judit in a very difficult situation, because if she causes Leko to lose the tournament, it will make her pretty unpopular at home (they are both Hungarians, in case anybody didn't notice). :(

cu8sfan: These are my predictions. Like <acirce>'s, Leko and Anand will be tied for first.

I. Sokolov - V. Anand 0-1
P. Leko - J. Polgar 1/2
P. Svidler - V. Topalov 1/2
R. Ponomariov - L. Bruzon 1-0
V. Kramnik - A. Morozevich 1-0
L. van Wely - N. Short 1/2
M. Adams - A. Grischuk 1-0

Jan-29-05  notsodeepthought: Predictions for tomorrow:

I. Sokolov - V. Anand 0-1
P. Leko - J. Polgar 1/2
P. Svidler - V. Topalov 1/2
R. Ponomariov - L. Bruzon 1-0
V. Kramnik - A. Morozevich 1/2
L. van Wely - N. Short 1/2

Annie K.: I am not participating in the predictions game, but I'm afraid I will have to predict this much:

If
Sokolov - V. Anand 0-1

then
P. Leko - J. Polgar 1-0

because Judit will be playing to lose. Hungarians have a chance to see one of their players at the top, and Judit won't want to cause Leko to lose the tournament. Not happy about this at all... :\

Jan-29-05  Troewa: Last round:

I. Sokolov - V. Anand 1-0
P. Leko - J. Polgar 1-0
P. Svidler - V. Topalov 1/2
R. Ponomariov - L. Bruzon 1/2
V. Kramnik - A. Morozevich 0-1
L. van Wely - N. Short 1-0
M. Adams - A. Grischuk 1/2

Jan-29-05  siu02jm: karjakin is playing blitz
Jan-29-05  notsodeepthought: <Annie K> On the other hand, I don't think any Hungarian would like it if Judit simply handed over the game to Leko. If he wants the win, he will have to earn it. I predicted 1/2, of course my predictions usually go all over the place...
