Jan-31-09 | | timhortons: <kingknightflo: nijboer won, and tie break scores will still have changes..the win by nijboer is advantageous to wesley as giri only drew him while wesley won against nijboer > is there a tie break system in corus?
why worry about howell, wesley owns howell.

Jan-31-09 | | Willem Wallekers: < laskereshevsky: its a little sad to see a so important player, like Romanishin was in the recent past, in a such bad rank position... >
It is, but old folks like us can still root for Nigel Short. |
Jan-31-09 | | GreenArrow: Howell will be out to beat So tomorrow, no question. There was some slight unpleasantness at the World Youth Championships last year I gather, with So being cocky during David Howell's time trouble. |
Jan-31-09 | | dumbgai: By the way this Anish Giri is really something too. He's only 14 years old and has 3 GM norms and a high 2400s rating. Not quite as high as Karjakin/Carlsen/So at the same age, but he's one kid we should watch out for in the future. |
Jan-31-09 | | spawn2: Willemwallekers,
I dont think So became cocky during Howell's tiem trouble. It not in the boy's nature to act that way. If you will see the interviews of the young Wesley, you will see a humble boy who has a lot of respect for people regardless of their age and position. So may opt for a draw with howell tonight. |
Jan-31-09 | | notyetagm: Giri has won his last 5(!!!!!) games in a row at Corus C. Will Giri win Corus C on tiebreak if he wins in the last round against Harika and So loses to Howell? Giri and So drew their game in round 3?
Thanks

Jan-31-09 | | notyetagm: <timhortons: giri is slowly killing hoyos now. wesley cant drop his guard, he need to win tommorrow or else these boy giri whos winning all his game in the last round might overtake him.> Yes, the amazing Giri went <5/5(!!!!!)> in Rounds 8-12 to shoot into sole possesion of 2nd place! Giri at Corus C

Rounds 1-7 -> 3/7
Rounds 8-12 -> 5/5(!!!!!) |

5 wins of Wesley is with black pieces |
Feb-01-09 | | shintaro go: <Yes, the amazing Giri went <5/5(!!!!!)> in Rounds 8-12 to shoot into sole possesion of 2nd place!> Not to be outdone, Wesley went 4.5/5 in rounds 8 to 12 to wrest the lead from Tiger Persson, and barring a major disaster, will claim Corus C 2009. |
Feb-01-09 | | laskereshevsky: the first 8 moves in the game Bosboom-Hillrap persson are worthy of consideration... |
Feb-01-09 | | Ziggurat: <laskereshevsky> Indeed... and nothing is clearer after white's ninth move 9. Rb5. Suttles might have a blast annotating this game. |
Feb-01-09 | | Eurotrash: Bosboom and Persson aren't exactly in a hurry are they? A total of almost 2,5 hours spent on the first nine moves! |
Feb-01-09 | | LaFreak II: Wesley So is Champion in Corus C |
Feb-01-09 | | Bluevertere: So drew his game against Howell. Fighting spirit goes ashtray when there is the bait of a 1st place. That's the main reason so many people love Fischer, he had compromised only with his own illusions. |
Feb-01-09 | | timhortons: CHEERS WESLEY!
wesley so well be playing in aeroflot these february!!!! Corus now, aeroflot next! |
Feb-01-09 | | timhortons: fischer did become carefull when he knew he had beatin spassky by the numbers and already sure of his world championship title, the last of his games against spassky in 72 match are drawn. now thats a calculated move from a thinking master.review the profile of the prodigy. |
Feb-01-09 | | timhortons: the same reason wesley drew these game, why take chances? record speak wesley beat howell 2-0.
he beat him in a convincing manner last world junior championship 2007 and 2008. |
Feb-01-09 | | siamesedream: Congratulation to Wesley So!!! Well done. |
Feb-01-09 | | midnightsun88: Well done Wesley So. |
Feb-01-09 | | timhortons: wesley so and these boy anish giri might meet again and engage in aeroflot.I hope they play in the same category strentgh. |

Feb-01-09 | | dumbgai: ...did Leon Hoyos just play the entire tournament without a draw? Looks like +5 -8 =0 to me. |
Feb-01-09 | | shintaro go: <Howell will be out to beat So tomorrow, no question.> I just love it when people eat their words. Wesley is the real thing. |
Feb-01-09 | | shintaro go: <Fighting spirit goes ashtray when there is the bait of a 1st place.> Yah, the same fighting spirit Dominguez showed against Sergey. Oh and what happened to Dominguez? Right, 5 black wins is not showing fighting spirit. |
