Their games are something to be considered."> This tournament is in fact ridiculously strong; the Tomsk-400 team has Timofeev only as a reserve player, yet they are located in the lower half of the field. No less than 3 teams are sporting rating averages of 2700+ for the first six boards. Does anyone know how the top players decide their teams for the Europe Cup? Most of these guys are also playing in the Bundesliga (and probably other leagues as well). |

The team captain however was late to file the changed roster, and so Eljanov was included by the arbiters as a player for this round. Thus the match started with his technical loss. |

The player on top of the men's performance ranking had significantly weaker opposition than Ivanchuk, for instance. 1. Riazantsev - avg. opposition 2587
