The Panamerican Continental Championships took place in 16th-30th August 2003 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 11 round Swiss has an $11,000 first prize.

The 7 who qualified for the next FIDE Championships were Lazaro Bruzon, Alexander Goldin, Ivan Morovic Fernandez, Hikaru Nakamura, Alexander Onischuk, Yuri Shulman and Giovanni Vescovi (Charbonneau, Gulko, Kaidanov and Shabalov were already qualified).

<Alexander Goldin and Giovanni Vescovi won with 8.5/11.> Julio Granda Zuniga didn't play the last round and finished on a disappointing 5.5/11.
