chessgames.com: The 3rd Amsterdam Chess Tournament takes place July 15th-23rd 2006. The official site is http://www.amsterdamchesstournament... but it seems to be suffering from technical problems at the moment.

There are photographs of this event published here: http://www.chessvista.com/

Jul-18-06  saturn: Considering Tiviakov's form in the Dutch Championship, he looks a cinch to win this one as well. <chessbookie.com> no betting on this one?
Jul-18-06  suenteus po 147: Weren't there some Amsterdam tournaments in the late '90s that had the chess elite as participants (as well as the top Dutch players)?

Jul-22-06  doremi: There is almost no kibitzing here, but there are exciting games nevertheless, check Tukmakov - van der Weide and Halkias - l'Ami of round 8 (= penultimate round).

Tiviakov and Halkias are in a joint lead with one more round to go, and a bunch of chasers are 0.5 point behind, this is not easy sailing for the new Dutch champ Tiviakov.

Jul-24-06  hidude: tiviakov will win this tournament
Jul-25-06  sneaky pete: <hidude> Will there be a play-off then?
Jul-26-06  doremi: Tiviakov has won on tie-break, on July 23, i.e. before hidude's "prediction" :-)
Sep-23-06  saturn: Had I been in Kramnik's shoes, I would have invited Tiviakov to be one of my seconds for the WCC.
