Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-21-21  Messiah: May the boy go wrong today.
Sep-22-21  Messiah: Today we'll have a Fathead-Justin clash. Hopefully both players will lose somehow.
Sep-22-21  fabelhaft: Carlsen plays the KID against Mamedyarov so probably not looking for a draw.
Sep-22-21  fabelhaft: Given that Carlsen’s team isn’t one of the top ranked I guess his job is to try to win such games as this one, but not easy to beat Mamedyarov with black. The only decisive game between the two in classical over the last six years with Mamedyarov as white was won by Mamedyarov.
Sep-22-21  Messiah: <fabelhaft: Carlsen plays the KID against Mamedyarov so probably not looking for a draw.>

I don't watch this particular game.

Sep-22-21  Messiah: May Justin fail to hold the endgame.
Sep-22-21  fabelhaft: Carlsen has probably gone a bit too far trying to unbalance things, even if it would work it wouldn’t help much when the team is going 0-5 on the other boards. As it is 6-0 looks rather likely.
Sep-22-21  fabelhaft: Carlsen blitzed out a few precise moves and things look holdable.

Svidler lost and is down to 2695 and is no longer in the top dozen in Russia. That can’t have happened the last 25 years.

Sep-24-21  fabelhaft: Looks like Carlsen lost interest a bit after the match when all the other players in the team lost their games, and he didn't play the last matches.
Sep-24-21  fisayo123: <fabelhaft>

No, he was supposed to play only a handful of games not the full 7 rounds.

Sep-24-21  fabelhaft: <fisayo123> Ah, ok. I thought it was strange that he played at all, just three days after winning the tournament in Norway.
Sep-24-21  fabelhaft: So I see that this Champions Chess Tour final thing has the opening ceremony today in Norway and Carlsen will be there IRL playing his games. With only a week between Norway Chess and this event also in Norway, he still bothered to sneak off to Macedonia to play some rounds of the European Club Cup :-)
Sep-24-21  nok: <Carlsen will be there IRL playing his games>

Omg omg omg

Tabanus: 276 games are missing. Six games from rd. 1, 49 games from rounds 1-5, and all the 227 games from rounds 6-7.

Sigh.

Tabanus: Now only 51 games missing, apparently mostly short GM draws.
