Chessgames.com Chess Event Description
Eurasian Blitz Chess Cup (2016)

The Eurasian Blitz Chess Cup of the President of Kazakhstan was held in Almaty on June 18 and June 19, 2016. It was a Swiss System open with 22 rounds (11 double-rounds); players met the same opponent with both colors in each double-round. The time control was 3 minutes per player with a 2-second increment per move.

The first seven double-rounds were played on June 18; Shakhriyar Mamedyarov topped the field on the first day with 11.5/14. Baadur Jobava scored four wins and one draw (including a double win against Mamedyarov) in the next five rounds, and led by a point and a half with three rounds to play; he then lost to Sergey Karjakin in round 20 and top seed Ian Nepomniachtchi in round 21, giving Nepomniachtchi a half-point lead before the final round. Farrukh Amonatov closed with four consecutive wins, while Nepomniachtchi drew his last game; both Amonatov and Nepomniachtchi finished on 16.0/22, but Amonatov had 15 wins to Nepomniachtchi's 13 and won the tournament on the second tie-break criterion. Jobava placed third half a point behind the top two, edging fourth-placed Vladislav Artemiev on performance rating.

Tie-break criteria: 1. head-to-head-score; 2. most wins; 3. performance rating; 4. Buchholz. Prizes: $30,000 for the winner; $20,000 for the runner-up; $100,000 in total.

Jun-22-16  Bruce Graham: Nice work by the Tajiki grandmaster. Almaty may be a lucky location for him, it's his second big win there.
Jun-23-16  sonia91: <Amonatov shocks stars to win $30,000 Eurasian Cup>: https://chess24.com/en/read/news/am...
Aug-17-16  Mr. V: Maybe Amonatov could use this money to get some training sessions and break into the European scene.

Tabanus: Plus many other missing games. Standings list updated anyway! For the 40 players with 12 points or more. Two wrong game results found: Yifan Hou vs S Shoker, 2016 (should be 0-1) and Kseniya Balabayeva vs S Sjugirov, 2016 (should be 0-1), but there may well be more.

I looked at pgn's elsewhere (incl. the official site) and could not find any with rounds 2, 4 and 5 included. Some sites sent these rounds live, and still have some games.
