European Team Championship (1999)

The 12th European Team Championship was contested between 36 national teams in the newly built Chess Palace in Batumi, Georgia from 29 November to 7 December 1999. It was a 9-round Swiss system tournament organized by the European Chess Union and the Georgian Chess Federation. Time control: 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 60 additional minutes to finish the game. Rounds 1-9 started at 3 pm local time. Chief arbiter: Geurt Gijssen. Number of games played: 648.

Armenia (Lputian, Minasian, Anastasian, Aronian) won with 22.5/36 game points, ahead of Hungary (22/36) and Germany (21/36).
