Jun-04-13 | | messachess: Well <dahtah>, I hope you're right about those two. I like them both. It is almost inevitable with Caruana that he will be within challenging distance for a long time and may well be wc soon, and sure, it would be most cool if Kamsky could do it. The coolest thing in the world, however, would be if Ivanchuk or Morozevich could do it! |
Jun-04-13 | | dahtah: Chucky can't do it Maybe in another planet he may become a WC. |
Jun-04-13 | | SoUnwiseTheKnight B4: <Chucky can't do it Maybe in another planet he may become a WC.> New planets are found constantly, i wonder if chucky would agree to the trip. |
Jun-04-13 | | Conrad93: <The records speak for Kamsky. He has a plus scores against Carlsen,Anand and Kramnik. While Anand and Kramnik are slowing down,Kamsky is getting back to his old form. Caruana on the other hand is like Carlsen. Beating rivals regularly.> Most of those wins are pre-2009.
Kamsky's only chance against Carlsen is in rapid. |
Jun-04-13 | | Salty: <sandtime>Morozevich vs. Nakamura (1/2-1/2) and Caruana vs. Dominguez (0-1) were both very good. Other than the Ivanchuk games, and a couple blunder losses by Svidler, Kamsky and Moro, most of the decisive games were good. |
Jun-04-13 | | dahtah: if they gave Anand a decent chance to beat Carlsen so is Kamsky, who beat the world champ twice already after a decade absence of playing. Also he did not only beat Kramnik in a match,he demolished him. |
Jun-05-13 | | fgh: <dahtah: Caruana and Kamsky are the only real treat to Carlsen. The rest are all pretenders who are just trying to survive in Fide's top ten list.> This is pure stupidity. You are either insane or an American nationalist. Kramnik has been in the top 10 for 20 years. Karjakin is the youngest GM in history. Aronian is higher rated than than your American idols. Anand was in the top 3 for 12 or so straight years. Grischuk won the 2012 Blitz WCC. I could go on. <dahtah: Also he did not only beat Kramnik in a match,he demolished him.> ZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I'm afraid that a match played in 1994 doesn't reflect Kramnik's in strength in 2000 (when he took the "crown" from Kasparov) or in 2013, the current year (believe that or not; you're apparently still stuck in 1995). <dahtah: Chucky can't do it Maybe in another planet he may become a WC.> And maybe, on another planet, you can write intelligent posts. <dahtah: <messachesss>The records speak for Kamsky. He has a plus scores against Carlsen,Anand and Kramnik.> Great. As usual, somebody brings up games that Carlsen played when he was 16 or so. <dahtah: Grischuk is contented on drawing his games against the best players.A very good strategy on staying at Fide top list.> Wow, he must be really clever. Is there also a strategy for <entering> the FIDE top list? Conclusion: you are mental. |
Jun-05-13 | | messachess: Jeeeez <fgh>, lighten up. <dahtah> is right to single our Caruana and Kamsky as legitimate contenders. The real question we would like to ask, but cannot, is how would the 18 year old Kamsky have done against the 18 year old Carlsen. We may get an off-handed chance to find out. Kamsky appears to be coming up to his old form. |
Jun-05-13 | | badest: <messachess: Jeeeez <fgh>, lighten up. <dahtah> is right to single our Caruana and Kamsky as legitimate contenders.> LOL. Maybe these "superstars" should qualify to the next Candidates before they are singled out as "legitimate contenders" and "real threat to Carlsen" ... Meanwhile, the boy still needs to beat the old man. That will not be a walk in the park. |
Jun-05-13 | | fgh: <messachess: Jeeeez <fgh>, lighten up. <dahtah> is right to single our Caruana and Kamsky as legitimate contenders.> True, but he is not in a position to denigrate accomplished players by ignoring their achievements. |
Jun-05-13 | | dahtah: < f gh> who says I denigrate accomplished player?if you are referring to my statement on Kamsky demolishing Kramnik in a match, that is a fact and not an exaggeration. It is in fact,Kramnik who is disrespectful to Carlsen saying,he is not that strong as he is.Carlsen has 24 major titles at 22. |
Jun-05-13 | | coolchess1: <dahtah: The records speak for Kamsky. He has a plus scores against Carlsen,Anand and Kramnik.> dahtah, what are you smoking?. As per the chessgames.com records, Vishy Anand, has a plus score against Kamsky, leading 11-7. I clearly remember of the players of the last generation, the only notable player who had a plus score against Anand was Kasparov. Of newer generation, only Aronian and Nakamura. Not sure, if any one apart from the above has a plus score against Anand, obviously I'm referring to notable players. |

Jun-05-13 | | virginmind: Tal Memorial coming up in a week. We are being spoiled, spoiled! |
Jun-05-13 | | dahtah: <coolchess1>I based the records between Anand and Kamsky,on games after the latter's comeback which is 2 to 0 with one draw in favor of <Kamsky>. |
Jun-05-13 | | schweigzwang: <Tal Memorial coming up in a week. We are being spoiled, spoiled!> If the June FIDE list is what counts and I did the math correctly, the avg. ELO is 2777 = category 22. |
Jun-05-13 | | parmetd: isn't it interesting how top chess went from a lively atomosphere to dead to lively again?
mainz, linares, mtel, nanjing and others died.... but other things came like zurich |

Jun-06-13 | | messachess: I just realized, one of these days
Chuky is going to take a dive and not come up again. Sad day.On a lighter note, LDP rose 12 places and 30 rating points on 2700chess.com. |
Jun-06-13 | | fisayo123: <messachess> It's been a while since he won a strong tournament. Maybe he can no longer compete with some of his illustrious opponents any longer. |
Jun-08-13 | | guenther42: What's more inflated? Chess egos or ELO ratings? Humility (and editing) would prevent comments that seem blindly dismissive and disrespectful, blind to the effort of working teams prepping each player for hours & days, the effort to create in an era of super computer-as-god. Alas, we're seeing fighting chess! Note: the man's name is not "Chuck". It is Ivanchuk. |

Jun-08-13 | | Eyal: Nice cartoon by Diaz: http://www.chessvibes.com/cuban-sur... [The part in Spanish: Dominguez's father asks him to put on a white cape (=capa blanca) - "it will fit you nicely," and Dominguez replies "don't exaggerate, dad."] |
