Jun-19-14 | | Petrosianic: <He was taking economy class like everyone else and was the most modest person I've ever met> If EVERYONE took economy, there wouldn't be any other class. He may be a great guy, and from all accounts I've heard, he is, but I don't give him any credit for the plane tickets he chooses to buy. That's entirely his own business, and I'd think no less of him if he flew First Class. |

Jun-19-14 | | Absentee: <vkk: My best friend went to school with carlsen for 8 years and carlsen used to get picked in a lot thanks to his massive ego because he was good at chess and not so much anything else> Most people are bad at chess AND everything else, so that's something. |

Jun-19-14 | | vkk: Nobody is jealous that someone is good at pushing wood at that age. He was probably an introvert and never really talked to anyone and therefore became an easy target. |

Jun-19-14 | | Petrosianic: <Nobody is jealous that someone is good at pushing wood at that age.> They might be if he got a lot of attention and/or praise for doing it. Everyone is jealous of attention. |

 | | perfidious: <Rolfo> He needs time to hire someone, who will have to be well paid to get anywhere near the stench. |
|
Jun-19-14 | | Rolfo: Lol perfidious, but I won't interfere to close on him or his family. He was quite unpleasant on both Carlsen and Nakamura and deserved a wake up call. Anyway I hope he himself has a pleasant girlfriend / wife if we get a picture or not |
|
Jun-19-14 | | CountryGirl: Sorry if someone has already answered this, but why does Carlsen win? From the Chessgames table above, Anand could catch him with 2 more wins, or Moro could catch him with 3 wins...(?)
Why don't they get to play 15 games, too? |

The top players were given headstart out of the pack. In a 100m dash race, top players had an easy start at half way mark. |

He's gotta be good at something else, like crocheting, sewing, beading and so forth? Vkk, make yourself clear, did he or did he not have at least one girlfriend in school. Tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help you and protect you from the hands of the fanboiz..... |

 | | HeMateMe: I thought, at least in the bio I read, that MC was home schooled after his chess talent became obvious. Pops made him do the homework, then escorted him to all of the big tournaments. That doesn't seem to leave a lot of time for sitting around in home room pondering with his mates which girl will be wearing the shortest skirt, that day. |

Jun-20-14 | | Chessinfinite: < Jason Frost: > < <Chessinfinite> Don't think anyone doubts Anand was an amazing quick player, but Kasparov was still better, though the gap was obviously closer than in classical.> I would differ here. I think Anand was an even stronger rapid player than the great Kasparov himself. Only Karpov, the other rapid God, was equal or better than Anand in rapid chess imo. Ofcourse Garry was the undisputed best player, but he never established his dominance in rapid play, as much as he did in the Classical chess. I agree it was a lot closer b/w the two, but Anand would be ahead in rapids i think. |

Jun-20-14 | | LucB: <How come different people have played different numbers of games? Is the listing above incomplete?> Yes.
Anand, for example, ended up with the same score as Caruana. |
|
Jun-25-14 | | Chessinfinite: Yes, Got to give it to Anand for a very strong performance. Carlsen and Caruana were the only ones who had a better TPR, Anand nearly won the event- had Grishchuk managed to beat Carlsen, it might have been a different story. I remember an interesting quite by Anand on rapid ratings - Anand thought his rapid rating could have been over 3000, had his games been rated during the first decade of 2000s. It is quite possible that it is true that his rating would be near to 3000 ! |
