Jan-08-08 | | MikeB20: Miss Elk:
Can I just say here Chris for one moment that I have a new theory about the brontosaurus?Presenter:
Er... exactly.
(he gestures but she does not say anything)
What is it?
Miss Elk:
Where? (looks round)
Presenter:
No, no. Your new theory.
Miss Elk:
Oh, what is my theory?
Presenter:
Yes.
Miss Elk:
Oh what is my theory that it is.
Well Chris you may well ask me what is my theory.
Presenter:
I am asking.
Miss Elk:
Good for you. My word yes.
Well Chris, what is it that it is - this theory of mine. Well, this is what it is - my theory that I have, that is to say, which is mine, is mine Presenter:
(beginning to show signs of exasperation)
Yes, I know it's yours, what is it?
Miss Elk:
Where? Oh, what is my theory? This is it.
(clears throat at some length)
My theory that belongs to me is as follows.
(clears throat at great length)
This is how it goes.
The next thing I"m going to say is my theory. Ready?
Presenter:
Yes!
Miss Elk:
My theory by A. Elk. Brackets Miss, brackets.
This theory goes as follows and begins now.
All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much thicker in the middle and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and belongs to me and I own it, and what it is too.

Mar-26-08 | | zoat22: wow! what a nice game!!! |
|
Mar-27-08 | | DutchKnight: WOW... GMs just dont play like that any more..look at that h-pawn go!!!!!!lol |
|
Apr-30-08 | | Jedithious: A truly magnificent Game! Nimzovich was a lord of chess. |
|
May-01-08 | | RookFile: Hans Kmoch was great at tongue in cheek humor. |
|
May-13-08 | | Trigonometrist: <CapablancaFan:Modesty definitely wasn't his strong point.> So true.
|
|
Aug-04-08 | | ravel5184: It saddens me to realize what a complete and utter idiot Nimzowitsch really was. :( |
|
Aug-04-08 | | Petrosianic: Somebody didn't notice the date that this game was Game of the Day... April Idiot!
|
|
Aug-04-08 | | ravel5184: <Petrosianic> And who is that? |
|
Aug-04-08 | | Petrosianic: I would say that anyone who really believed that Nimzovich wrote this himself could not possibly have taken note of the date that it was used as the Game of the Day. Though really the date should not have been necessary. Anybody who reads things like "originality and modernism were introduced by me as my own personal inventions" and doesn't get that it's a humor piece was born without a funny bone. |
|
Aug-04-08 | | ravel5184: Speaking of funny stuff, take a look at Memorable Quotes chessforum! |
|
Aug-31-08 | | snidge50: Game composed and mock annotation by Hans Kmoch. |
|
Oct-10-08
 | | sleepyirv: Hans Kmoch is obviously a fake name.
Did Systemsson always play such poor chess? |
|
Oct-22-08 | | gazzawhite: Some annotations sound like they could have come straight from kibitzes on this site... |
|
Oct-27-08 | | AlfieNoakes: Haha, that had me giggling like an idiot, especially as I have just read My System by the man himself. I love the comment about black finally getting the idea and overprotecting his own pawn on e6 :D |
|
Oct-27-08 | | davegras: When I first saw this game last year I thought..what an egomaniac! I have to apologize to his spirit now. |
|
Dec-15-08 | | patzer of patzers: um, <sleepyirv>? Hans Kmoch is real. He's the one who called 13 year old Fischer's win over Byrne "the Game of the Century". Hans Kmoch
ps if you're joking, then sorry. |
|
Dec-15-08 | | blacksburg: Hans Kmoch also authored a book of Rubinstein's games, which is very very good. As good as any of my Capablanca collections. The introduction is one of the most moving things i've ever read in any book, not just chess books. i think he was joking :) |
|
Dec-16-08 | | patzer of patzers: Oh. Whoops! |
|
Dec-16-08 | | boringplayer: OMG! This is wicked funny. I had never seen it before, and just had to play it over again tonight. What a great job by Kmoch! |
|
Dec-23-08 | | WhiteRook48: you must overprotect |
|
Jan-07-09 | | WhiteRook48: 2. h4!! Most players would have ridiculed that move. But it actually turned out for a good use. |
|
Jan-13-09 | | swarmoflocusts: "For, if White first plays d4, there follows c5 and White's d-pawn is under attack. But my clever transposition of moves changes the situation completely. For now Black's c-pawn is suddenly attacked by White's d-pawn!" Brilliant! |
|
Jan-13-09 | | AnalyzeThis: It's really humorous how black commits sui-mate in this game. |
