Sep-10-06 | | percyblakeney: 65. e5 must be one of Carlsen's worse moves, even if it's blitz... |
Sep-10-06 | | blingice: Yeah, although it would be difficult to break from "I may win this" to "oh no, mate in one" during a blitz game. |
Sep-11-06 | | wintep: This must have been a gesture to the audience because his flag was hanging |
Sep-11-06 | | hellstrafer: <wintep>
That explains. Surely Carlsen would see a mate in one. |
Sep-11-06 | | slomarko: <wintep:> the format was 4 min with an increment of 2 sec per move |

 | | alexmagnus: Grrr it's hard to put the game of my chess idol in the "Grandmaster blunders", but here I have to do it... |
Sep-11-06 | | Nasruddin Hodja: <This must have been a gesture to the audience because his flag was hanging> No. The first thing blitz players are taught is to keep playing your moves and not to move a single facial muscle if your flag falls, just in case your opponent misses it and his flag falls also. Carlsen really did blunder, so he's mortal after all. |

Sep-11-06 | | blingice: <Nasruddin Hodja: The first thing blitz players are taught is to keep playing your moves and not to move a single facial muscle if your flag falls, just in case your opponent misses it and his flag falls also.> Hmm, I wasn't taught that, because I know I watch my opponent's flag like a hawk, and if he/she ever flagged, it would be immediate. |
Aug-02-09 | | rubicante: this was the most stupid blunder ever. no grandmaster would do this move, even though it is blitz. |
Oct-23-10 | | Tigranny: Any reason while Carlsen overlooked the mate? |
Oct-23-10 | | kapivarov: Because he's something limited, aside his own merits and talent, he received the best sponsorship and training of all time, trained and developed his enormous potencial very early, i.e., he was(is) a prodigy himself with a great staff and good conditions. But he reached his peak precocely. I assure you he won't make much progress from now on. Others, who didn't have the same opportunities, have much to improve yet. In a matter of time, some other young talents will appear with great performances too. Perhaps not as Magnus, his performance at his age is unique, but I DOUBT MC can't avoid some king of stagnation. I bet the difficult he had today against Gashimov will be the same in the next years. In a perhaps grotesque comparation, I know, it's only to exemplify: Bronstein or Andrei Sokolov, they showed all their potencial very soon and after their peaks, they never reached the top again. A natural talented GM would never blunder this ridiculous way as Carlsen did. |
Sep-02-11 | | RMKvdS: <kapivarov> Ridiculous, Carlsen is human and can therefore blunder. |
Sep-02-11
 | | perfidious: <kapivarov> Your entire statement is has little to basis in fact-under nervous tension, even the greatest players may commit grave errors, to wit: Fischer vs Letelier, 1959. |
Oct-06-14 | | Zhbugnoimt: kapivaraov: CArlsen?? Who's that?? AHH... in 2014 we can all agree he sucks right? |
Dec-03-15 | | pinoy king: Terrible. I can take games from Carlsen in bullett/blitz easily. |

 | | perfidious: <pinhead king: Terrible. I can take games from Carlsen in bullett (sic)/blitz easily.> Watching that spectacle unfold would doubtless prove highly edifying. |
Nov-20-17 | | orbisignis89: in 2017 MC is still the Man. |
Aug-16-19 | | Chesgambit: blitz blunder |
Jun-17-20 | | issakhalid: <kapivarov> bet you feel extremely stupid right now lol |
Jun-17-20 | | SChesshevsky: <Tigranny: Any reason while Carlsen overlooked the mate? > Could be in his quick calculation moves earlier he saw both e5 and Rxh5 as moves. Something like 64. e5 Rc5 65. Rxh5 Kxf3 but maybe rushing he mixed up the order. When Carlsen has some initiative, seems he can occasionaly get overly optimistic. Where he notices possible opponent's threats or tactical tricks but loses track and/or slightly miscalculates. Though rare and pretty much only in blitz with time an issue. In this 2010 game with Gelfand on the youtube video it appears Carlsen looks over at the rook and senses the danger but... Carlsen vs Gelfand, 2010 And in this 2019 game with Abdusattorov, seemed Carlsen always felt his hanging pawns needed care but playing a little too loose created a big disappointment caught on video. Carlsen vs N Abdusattorov, 2019 |
