Nov-30-16  weisyschwarz: Thank you CG.Com!! Very kind of you!

Congratulations, Magnus Carlsen! You were the aggressor, who defeated one of the best defenders of all time. You lost one game to this worthwhile opponent, Sergey Karjakin. See you next time, when you will win with style again.

Nov-30-16  Jonny Havoc: 12 games and a shoot out ..

It's not good enough ..

Who ever is running chess now is just not getting it.

Nov-30-16  cormier: i felt Mr.Carlsen ... keap the good wine for the ending of the match ..... well he displayed only a little of his stuff .....

HeMateMe: Thanks for the nice broadcast, ChessGames.
Nov-30-16  Fish55: <watto99> It's likely that Karjakin expected and was well prepared for 3.Bb5+.
Nov-30-16  KnightVBishop: What if Karjakin played BF8 instead of KH7 at the end?

Rxf8! Leads to mate soon after

Nov-30-16  ChessHigherCat: Why didn't white play 14. Nd4..Qd1, 15. NxB..QxB, 16. Rd1, winning the pawn on d6?
Nov-30-16  beenthere240: To call the combination after move 49 a Monday puzzle is ludicrous.

WOW!!! How did you come up with this, Chancho?!?!!! All five users have no more than 0-2 posts!

Nov-30-16  Sniffles: KnightVBishop: What if Karjakin played BF8 instead of KH7 at the end?

49... RxB, 50 KxR RxP, cannot avoid mate. Unrelenting check until the queen moves to D7. The king gets trapped on the A file.

Nov-30-16  ChessHigherCat: <beatgiant> Ach-hach, I thought I must be missing something :-)

Probably because it would violate a number of rules in chess...

Dec-01-16  chessalem: this day will be a date that will live in infamy- a consumnation of a conspiracy to produce desired results by FIDE...all who are celebrating here are accomplices to the atrocity done to the chess community.
Dec-01-16  SimplicityRichard: Qh6!! Probably, the best combination ever to end a World Chess Championship match.

Congratulations to Magnus Carlsen who indeed had the edge as proven by his general play of almost always seizing the initiative and becoming the creative aggressor. Nevertheless, Karjakin has proven his status as a worthy championship contender as good as Caruana or Aronian. Karjakin's status has risen in the chess world. Congratulations to Sergey Karjakin for proving that defensive skills are as important as attacking skills and can provide the basis on which to win a match.

I thoroughly enjoyed this championship. Thank you CG.#

Dec-01-16  optimuswise: Amazing finish!!
