They didn't fear Glenn Flear, I hear.

keypusher: I thought maybe Black had blundered when he allowed Nxf7, but he seems to be fine. Clever, these super-GMs.

Mar-17-20  Ulhumbrus: White's knight is not doing much. This suggests 27 Nc3 or clearing e3 for the knight by 27 Bd4
Mar-17-20  Vitruvio: greetings to all from Argentina !! Can someone tell me who introduced novelty in this line of Hispaniola, between MVL and Caruana?

In the olden days, we called them <Harrwitz bishops>.

FSR: I think Radjabov bowed out because he was afraid of repeating his last-place finish in the 2013 Candidates tournament. World Championship Candidates (2013) Or he was afraid of the Carunavi - never mind.

An Englishman: Good Morning: Happy Tuesday! Pity Caruana chose 10...Ba7, because the Exchange sacrifice after 10...Nxa5; 11.Rxa5 is hardly explored. Looking at the position now (after 31...Nxe4), superficially the game still has some interest. 32.Qd5,Nf6; 33.Qf7 looks tempting. If the Rooks and Queens come off the board, the a6 pawn becomes hard to defend.

AI bishops vs AL bishops.

I'm afraid they were Horwitz bishops, since Nimzowitsch's Mein System, but the confusion persists and who knows, perhaps Nimzo laid a misnomer, I haven't researched the two H's.

keypusher: In favor of Horwitz bishops:

Bernhard Horwitz

Re A0 bishops, I assume this is what is intended. Great game, but I'm good with the old name. Horwitz should not be forgotten.

Mar-18-20  Carrots and Pizza: What an incredibly complicated game. I was trying to guess White's moves as I replayed the game and when it came time to make the 16th move, I was thinking that if I found myself in this position in a tournament game, I would have that awful feeling that I've already let it slip into a critical position. How can White defend e4? Pushing 16.e5 didn't seem possible but that's exactly what happened. These guys are very tricky to say the least. White seemed to hang on by a thread the whole time.

FSR: <Olavi> Good question. Wikipedia defines <Horwitz bishops> as <A player's light-square and dark-square bishops placed so that they occupy adjacent diagonals, creating a potent attack. Also called raking bishops, and sometimes Harrwitz bishops.>

To ensure maximum confusion, Wikipedia illustrates the concept with a position from a game Horwitz-Harrwitz, of which it states, <After 30.Qe2. Black's Horwitz bishops are aimed at White's kingside.> So Harrwitz used his Horwitz bishops to crush Horwitz. Got it.

Mar-12-21  Messiah: Excellent preparation by Caruana! I like this (deeply logical) game very much.

Clement Fraud: After 14... Bb7, White appears to have too much unconsolidated space within his center (and has to attack in order to defend) ; my conclusion is that 11.h3 is an unaffordable luxury.

I strongly believe that 11.Be3 should be considered.
