Nov-15-06 | | thegoodanarchist: Well, let's be honest here - you cannot beat Viktor Korchnoi with moves such as ? and ?! You need a couple of !! or ! moves to win.
So I do not think RJF was being self-indulgent with the annotations. |
Nov-22-06 | | Maatalkko: Giving move 12 an ! is dumb, because anyone with some experience and half a brain would play that move in a second, even if they didn't know the KID that well. Also Rf6 is obvious too. 24. Nh8 deserves ! or !! in standard and !!!!! or !!!!!!!!!! in blitz. But other than that I probably would have played all of Bobby's moves in a standard game. Of course Nh8 is the key to the whole thing and since I wouldn't have seen it I would have probably sit back and hope to make a draw against Korchnoi. 16. bxc5?? is a horrible move that Korchnoi would never have played in a standard game. I've had 1700's blunder like that against me, and even with them it's like, "dude, what were you doing?" |
Nov-22-06 | | ToTheKings: "Shams: excellent notes indeed-- except for the one to white`s 13th move, wherein Bobby seems to recommend an illegal move." Um, did you look at the board before you posted that? 13 Nb3 is legal! |
Nov-24-06 | | Maatalkko: <ToTheKings> I looked at this game last year, and it said 13. Bd2 not 13. Nb3. The notes to the game have been updated; those earler kibitzers weren't hallucinating. |

Dec-27-06 | | TaxiDriver: The Master of KID beating the tough Korchnoi in the strongest blitz tourny ever!! |
Dec-27-06 | | slomarko: yeah and the Master of the french beat him in the second game... |
Apr-23-07 | | BobbyBishop: Interesting how Fischer didn't once touch his Queen or Queen's Rook! |
Jun-04-07 | | RandomVisitor: 24...Nh8 might not be as spectacular after the suggested improvement 25.Nd2. best play after 24...Nh8 25.Nd2 might be:
1: Viktor Korchnoi - Robert James Fischer, Herceg Novi blitz 1970

Dec-12-07 | | JG27Pyth: 24...Nh8 would make a nice puzzle move if they added a day after Sunday for so-insane-the-player-does-eventually-go-insane puzzle difficulty. |

Mar-29-08 | | hedgeh0g: Yeah man, I would have seen all these moves so fast man! Did I also mention I'm very wealthy, handsome and athletic? Oh, and in my free time, I help the poor. |
May-13-08 | | Lt.Columbo: Here's a little miniature I like looking over now and then, it's a nice little gem of a KID. Bobby was like a real magician with the BLK pieces playing this defense. If I could only have some kind of understanding of this game that Bobby did I would be a real King!! That said Victor Korchnoi was a helluva player! I really believe Fischer respected Korchnoi as a 1975 challenger much more than that golden boy Karpov. Korchnoi was just as fierce a competitior at the board as Bobby. Too bad the Soviets played dirty pool with the regal gentleman. |

Sep-12-08 | | joelsontang: where can i get notes by fischer apart from his 60 memorable games??? and i think white shld have played 10.dxc5en passant follwed by ideas like b4 all in all to put pressure on the backward d6 pawn. comment??? does 9...c5 also work for white playing the usual 9.Ne1??? |
Oct-21-08 | | KingG: <does 9...c5 also work for white playing the usual 9.Ne1???> It seems a bit risky as White can play for Nxc5 sacrifices, as in
Korchnoi vs Nijboer, 1993. |

Apr-11-09 | | drukenknight: Before we start to add more exclamation pts and pronounce Bobby Lord God Almighty, how does it go after 28 Kh1? |
Sep-18-09 | | Emma: If 16.bxc5 is bad what should white play? Or rather how should he open lines on the queenside? |
Nov-03-09 | | birthtimes: Korchnoi deviated with 9. Nd2, as the main line here is 9. b4, which prevents Fischer's excellent reply, 9...c5. Also, 12. bxc5 bxc5 13. Qa4 f5 14. Nb3 Nf6 15. f3 a5 16. Be3 seems like a good queenside plan for White, e.g., see V Popov vs Fedorov, 2008 |
Nov-03-09 | | parisattack: I'm not a Mar del Plata expert but I think 9. Nd2 and 9. Ne1 were the main line moves in 1970...don't remember seeing the Bayonet Attack much back then... |

Jan-09-10 | | funkymihir: fischer is a magician. nut one big question remains. could he defeat the all time great kasparov or would he just collapse with players like svidler, gelfand and moroezevich. Take it lightly guys.don't think of me as an idiot |
