Kibitzer's Corner
May-11-15  Bycotron: A nice outing for my favorite defense against the King's Gambit. At move 15 it looks like things are a little messier than I'm hoping for whenever I play the Becker Defense, but black has been given more material; I prefer to keep the pawn chain h6-f4 intact, preventing white from developing his Queen's Bishop effectively and keeping the position closed so my extra pawn is more secure and valuable.

Looking at the board at move 15 with white to play, 15.Rxg2 jumps right out as the most logical and obvious move. White immediately threatens Rxg6, and by pressuring the g6 knight tactically threatens the f4 pawn with his Bishop AND the f7 pawn to remove the guard from the g6 knight!

15...Kh8 16.Bxf7 and black looks busted.

15...Nh4 looks like it comes in the nick of time as the g2 Rook has no more good squares on the g-file. 16.Rf2 f3 and white is as busted as the game continuation.

I have no computer to check this, but it looks to me like white is already wrecked by his 15th move.

That's exactly why I love this defense so much! My opponents very rarely come up with any effective play at all with the white pieces and then they lose. :)

perfidious: <Bycotron> Always favoured the Becker as a means of entering the Classical while avoiding the Kieseritzky, which I learnt from M Yeo vs Milner-Barry, 1977 a good many years ago.
May-11-15  Gregor Samsa Mendel: Not bad for an 80-year-old.
