Aug-29-05 | | PaulLovric: Finally this is the malinin game i submitted. It is a thing of beauty, especially the finish. |
Aug-29-05 | | aw1988: Absolutely amazing. It can be compared to Nezhmetdinov's 13. Qxf6 against Chernikov. |
Aug-29-05
 | | chancho: <PaulLovric> A very fine finish, without doubt. |
Aug-29-05 | | Giearth: Woah!
<aw1988> Nezhmetdinov vs O Chernikov, 1962 is more 'mind-blungeoning' than this! At least here you could see the immediate move after this in near future move. |
Aug-29-05 | | aw1988: There is no real difference between the two games, only that this one is far more agressive. The point is that White always has compensation, pieces in solid positions, enough material, etc etc.. |
Aug-29-05 | | Giearth: Yes, White may have compensation after an exchange sacrifice: solid positions and attacking chances etc... However, I think there's something missing in Malinin's strategy, for example: Black appears to be winning after 30... ♖xf4+. |
Aug-29-05 | | aw1988: What does this accomplish? |
Aug-29-05 | | Giearth: White loses his compensation. :)
30... Rxf4+ 31.gxf4 Qxd5+ 32.Ne4 Qxa2 and White's pieces are not enough to gain the advantage. For example:A) 33.Rh7 Qe6 34.Ng5 Qd5+ 35.Kg3 c4
B) 33.Rg1 Qb3 34.Re1 Qe6
B1) 35.Ng5 Qf5
B2) 35.Rb1 c4 |
Aug-29-05 | | aw1988: Oh, I was thinking of Ne6 f4 but of course White is already in check. |
Aug-29-05 | | Giearth: I'm not saying Malinin's sacrifice was unsound but perhaps there is improvement for White... |

 | | Benzol: <Gryz> Thanks for pointing out this game. And thanks to <PaulLovic> for submitting it to the DB. :) |
Oct-06-07 | | kevin86: An absolutely brilliant game! It looks like both players were in mating nets at different times, but while black's attack ran short on steam, white's resurged to cumninate in a brilliant knight and bishop mate. |
Oct-07-07 | | PolishPentium: Black definitely, as Giearth pointed out, have played 30...RxN+, enabling the subsequent capture QxB, defusing much of White's threat. |
Oct-08-07 | | tatarch: Yeah, it's true-- his brain was probably just too fried from figuring out how to escape the earlier mating net. |
Oct-15-07
 | | TheAlchemist: Tim Krabbe mentions on his site that 26.Kg2 would have won, while 28...Rxf4 and 29...Rxf4 were also winning |
Sep-16-09 | | Gryz: Another amazing game by Malinin.
V B Malinin vs A Andreev, 1989
Also playing with against the Benko gambit. |
Oct-15-09 | | WhiteRook48: Malinin: the second Fischer... |
Oct-26-09 | | gauer: Not quite a Mirror (the squares in the King field would need to be empty), nor a Model (white would want to Jettison the Rook), white does score a Pure mate in the final position. |
Oct-26-09
 | | Benzol: The finish here reminds me of the end of this game Dodge vs J R Houghteling, 1904 |
Jan-30-10 | | drdos7: I hate to say it, but the Queen Sacrice 15.Qxg6 is unsound and should lose, however there was a beautiful move uncorked by the computer chess engine Stockfish 1.6.2 and it is 15.Be6!! |
Aug-26-10 | | sevenseaman: Malinin seems to have atalent for producing 'jaffas' if I may use a cricketing analogy. |
Oct-26-10 | | sevenseaman: Most pieces, White as well as Black look as though they are poised for a bungee jump. ..35. Bf6? the Black B jumped w/o even the benefit of the rope. |
Apr-29-11 | | iking: - click for larger viewwhat beautiful position .... |
Oct-11-11 | | King Sacrificer: Great game and what a finish! |
Nov-07-11 | | sevenseaman: A day to die, a day to kill! |
