 | | Richard Taylor: <<Richard Taylor: A few years ago I stopped drinking virtually any alcohol at all. I never miss not drinking now.> Good for you. So ... I guess W.C. Fields isn't your favourite actor from the past? :-) For me, life without wine, beer and cocktails would be much lesser enjoyable and colourfull. Each to his own.> I don't know the actor in question - I have heard his name. You are possibly an alcoholic. Alcohol is positively indicated for most severe and often fatal diseases such as is obesity (overeating, too many calories above requirements) and smoking. There is nothing "colourful" about drinking. It is like saying cocaine or other dangerous drugf use is "colourful". That is stupid. |

Apr-22-14 | | TheFocus: <Richard Taylor>'s post makes him sound like a bitter old drunk. Are you sure you quit drinking? |
|
Apr-22-14 | | DcGentle: <13... h6> is a purely prophylactic move. Carlsen always wants his king to be super safe. |

 | | Richard Taylor: If you won EVERY GAME. Sometimes I actually throw games on live chess sites in Blitz when I am winning too much and I think (I see a lower rated player) I'll just sac something and see if he / she knows how to win. I try not to make it obvious, I then compliment my opponent if their rating is below me. But I have to say I only do that when I am feeling very alert and winning a lot which doesn't happen much. Other times I get angry (mostly with myself) when I stuff up, as I do a lot. But I try to remain polite when I lose. OTB is different though. But I can see that winning every game could become a bore. If that was the case I could see Carlsen throwing in the towel and taking up politics or terrorism - something exciting. |

Yes. But if something is stupid it is stupid. Drinking is stupid. |

Apr-22-14 | | Sokrates: <Richard Taylor: ... You are possibly an alcoholic...> Wow that's quite a conclusion. So all people who enjoy wine and beer occasionally are alcoholics? And they also eat fat and act stupidly? Not knowing W.C. Fields is strange but okay, being fanatic for your own good is also okay somehow, but judging others on wild assumptions and stereotypes is, well, guess what I don't write here. Didn't expect this from you, Mr Taylor. |

Apr-22-14 | | Marmot PFL: Neither on h3 or f2 has the white knight seemed to have any activity or effect on the game. Thus black has been able to develop freely and has an easy position. White has the 2 bishops so he probably isn't worse if he uses them well. |
